Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Of course Porsche makes and sells an MKII GT3 parts that can be installed on a 996.

I think they changed the rule to make it ok later.

Like everyone else, I ran the taco assuming it was ok.

It comes complete with the harness and set screws for the adjust table spoiler.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yes, If I understand your question right. Carreras were optioned with Aerokit II.
Check these threads.

Let me clarify:
1. You could order a '99-'01 996's with the MK I GT3 aero package. (I had one)
2. Were there '02-'04 996's with the MK II GT3 aero packages from the factory as an option? I have never seen one.
I do not see any Aerokits offred in the 2002MY Guide, just the flared rockers. (That my car has)
However, I was pretty sure there was an Aerokit II offered???
I'm pretty sure the answer is no. When I was racing my stock class 996 I was allowed to use any wing available as a factory option. Like everyone else, I ran the taco assuming it was ok. One winter I went through all the 2002-forward order guides to see what else I might be able to do to the car. To my surprise neither the MKI or the MKII were ever an option after 2001 which meant my wing was illegal. I think they changed the rule to make it ok later.
I didn't think they made one. I guess it wasn't a dumb question afterall?
I wonder why they stopped for the MKII? They would of sold those like hotcakes IMO.
So let me try to understand this.... even though porsche offers the Mk1 and Mk2 aerokit... you cant buy mk2 aerokit as an option on the 02-04 cars from the factory? That doesnt make sense..
You guys might be right but until someone comes up with an order guide that has the MKII as an option I'm sticking with my view that it was never a factory option. That doesn't mean that it couldn't be added by the dealer of even as a custom order from the factory.
I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.
Jim
Ok, Roberga got his with the full MK II GT3 aero kit but JimB said it is not in the books? Uh, I am still
Dresler, you have a different kit that is pretty sweet but I was looking for the GT3 looking aero kit. I had the MK I aero and loved the look but I want the benefits of the MK II 996 and what it has to offer. The GT3 aero kit would top it off.
I don"t know what to tell you Cory. I just looked through the order guides for 2003 and 2004 and the MKII wasn't listed. Renntech didn't have 2002 guide but I suspect it's not there either.
I doesn't surprise me at all that Roberga's PDE car has the kit but that doesn't mean it's a factory option. It just means Porsche put the kit on the PDE cars.
The mystery contiues.....
Tippy, In my bottom picture I posted above of the lid/spoiler, you can see the
part no
of that lid. It comes complete with the harness and set screws for the adjust table spoiler. The only thing that do not come with it are the angled wedges for the spoiler. I didnt get those cause the wing already produces zero lift at stock angle.
Mike,
Of course Porsche makes and sells an MKII GT3 parts that can be installed on a 996. If that's the question I feel like a fool. You can also bolt on the factory made cup car or RSR wings. All kinds of stuff on these cars are interchangeable.
What I understood the question to be was whether MKII aero kit was offered as an option on the 02+ 996. I think the answer is no. You could order the MKI on the pre-2002 cars and I think you can order the GT3 aero kit on the 997 but I dont think you could on the 2002-2004.
Tippy, just order the parts, have them painted and put them on the car. You can do it a couple of hours.
Jim
Jim,
I am confused too with the question/s
I think you're right. But just to clarify the GT3 lid/wing is different from the aerokit for our Carreras. Thats mainly for me
and folks confused like me
cause I thought for the long while that the air inlet hole for the two were the same
I'm sure most of the folks here already know that
But anyway, I think i understand the question now. My friend in Richmond though told me that his Dad's 02 Carrera came with aerokit II from the dealership. I have never seen it yet.
Mine has what appears the be the GT3 Aero Kit. I have the code XAA on the factory codes list under the trunk. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
This is the way it came from the factory minus the front techart spoiler lip.
Finally proof of what I suspected all along! I'm full of sh#t! Armed with the correct option code I was able to fine the areokit in the 2003 order guide. Option XAA for $7980. Listed under Exterior Cosmetic.
Sorry for my ignorance. Dam, I could have run it on my racecar.
Jim
