Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

41 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At 2:33 in the afternoon Central Daylight Time on 6/2/08, my 996 was officially returned to the leasing company. I want to apologize to those of you who live in North Texas or Southern Oklahoma. If you thought you were hearing a fire engine siren blaring in the distance, it was only me wailing and gnashing my teeth as we drove away from the leasing company. Thanks goodness, I didn't actually cry (in public anyway), so that was a good thing!

I know EXACTLY what you're feeling. I traded in a very special car this weekend and before I left I made the dealer promise me that they wouldn't sell the car to a smoker or someone who would drive it in the rain.

POST 3Original post

Tim, sorry to see she's gone, but THERE will be others! But in the meantime where are the noobs that need to PPT&@$P's?

POST 4Original post

Oh wow...it really happened....you poor soul. Looking forward, while you aren't jumping into another p car anytime soon, you should be thinking the following two words.... WIDE BODY. Mush forward my friend....don't be a stranger either, you know more about the technical aspects of these cars than most others here.... Best, J

POST 5Original post

Sorry to hear Tim, there will be another. I can still vividly remember wathing my 944 turbo drive away while I stood in the street depressed - and that was around 12 years ago... You posted a few weeks? ago what you were looking at to replace this one, anything yet? What about a pre owned 986?

POST 6Original post

Hope you recover from your P-car loss, that your home sells, and your new job flourishes.Must be painfull to let go of your C2. Luckily they've made a lot of Porsches and one day your name will be on another 911.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys! Don, I got a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L. It has a 4 cylinder with 190 HP. 21/30 MPG. It is White with Tan Leather. It will get me from point A to point B and I won't HATE it, so it is OK.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 5471404

Not HATING it is a good start , and with gas prices the way they are, sounds like a good choice. Hope everything is progressing well with the move and job! Regardless of what you are driving, you know you'll just have to stick around here until your next p-car...

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 5471106

Tim, just one request: PLEASE don't change your avatar or your sig. That car will always be with you in spirit - or at least until the next Porsche comes your way. And it will.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 5471478, 5471487

Yeah, not hating it is a good start. Maybe again some day..... I had thought about making my avatar semi-transparent, but I haven't learned how to do that on Adobe Elements Photoshop, which is on my computer in Dallas. I agree, the sig needs to stay.

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 5471487

+1 on that... no changes until we get you into another P-car.

POST 13Original post

Tim- you can probably buy it back for a song and a dance one of these days...it's not like they're going up in price. Does an enthusiast shed different tears than mere mortals?

POST 14Original post

Tim....congrats on the Accord! I think they are very very nice looking! Honda has done a wonderful job in shaping the body of that car in the recent past, especially the sport coupe. Enjoy your gas savings too. That a lot of horsies for a 4 banger! J

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 5345689

Tim, I posted it before..... Cheers.... .....to a speedy transition to "acceptance" and a new Porsche!!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5471564

Yes, I think we do. After I got back to the office, I noticed a bunch of blue spots on my shirt. It looked like a fountain pen had leaked all over my shirt. Only later did I realize that those were my tear drops... I am proud to say that they had turned Lapis Blue!

Thanks Mark, but it's going to be a few years before there is another Porsche in my garage.

POST 20Original post

Sorry Tim, I knew that you were going to be Porscheless for a while. I was hoping the incredible price drop might cheer you up a little. I can't believe you can get a nice TT for that price.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 5471946

Maybe they'll get that RMS thingy figured out by then? That'll be sweet!!

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 5471106

Sorry to hear that Tim!!! I hope another performance car of your choice, BTW we all know that is a P-Car, is in the near future for you. Best of luck to you!!!

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. Hopefully, I'll be "back in the fold" again someday.

POST 24Original post

tim, best of luck to you. you are working hard, and you know you will have another p-car very soon.

POST 25Original post

Well I guess the Honda discussion we had stuck a little? It is a GREAT car! Built much better than the 996 with only one flaw...FWD. But I still love the one I bought for my Daughter and you will not regret buying it. Congrats for now and soon we can start the search for the next Pcar! Come on over to my place anytime you need a P Fix. Next on your list....GOLF CLUBS

POST 26Original post

Tim, where about are you located in Dallas? I moved to Denver from Plano about 8 years ago.

POST 27Original post

Tim, I rented an Accord in Florida last year when I was there. I was blown away by how much better they are then when I drove my Acura Integra (same basic chassis then) in high school and college. They are very German in handling, get phenomenal mileage and are very comfortable. It will be an able vehicle until you rock the world and can next make it back into a Pcar. May the road take you where you need to go.

POST 28Original post

Tim, I share your sadness, but every good thing must come to an end. Did you check out the Acural TL? If so, what's y our opinion?

POST 29Original post

Tim I hope you stay active on RL. You've always been very helpful. FWIW, I sold my 964 and got an M3 in 2002. Was immediatley missing the Porsche experience. Then sold that car and decided to just drive the Tundra. I think I said everything you've said. 6 months later I justified a 944. 18 months later, I got the 996.

POST 30Original post

Tim... please stick around, the policing of newbies recently has been really slacked, keep the sigs on and the newbies will never ever know... your knowledge and presence here is very valuable.

Red, thanks for the kind words. I am going to stick around for a while. What else do I have to do? It used to be that when I got a little "restless" I would take the P-car for a drive to meke me feel better. Somehow, I can't envision the same thing happening with the Accord.

POST 33Original post

hope you still stick around .... telling all the noobs to POST THEIR DAMN PICS.....

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5474701

They should be so lucky if that is all I said to them!

POST 35Original post

Tim, First you leave the Queen city and now the P car is gone... that's a lot of change my friend! A couple of years in the Honda and then you will appreciate the Porsche even more when you get another on!

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5475597

What do you mean a "couple of years?" Hell, a couple of days has already done that!

POST 37Original post

If there's anything Hondas have in common with Porsches (aside from kaizen-jutsu), it's that their owners absolutely love them, and I'm sure you'll grow to love yours, especially since it's so reliable it's bound to make you go out and buy a 914 or old 911 to work on! Seriously Tim, thanks so much, you made me feel so welcome when I joined and I hope that fortune smiles on you with another Porsche for you to mod up and advise us all on sooner than later.

POST 39Original post

I was considering a Honda (Acura TL). Has anyone driven the Type-S?

POST 40Original post

Quotes source post: 5477408

Yes- I had an older one that I leased and I had zero trouble with the car in 3 years and really liked it. The new S is a great car that little competes with in that price range IMO.

POST 41Original post

tim, keep the VIN number of the car handy. chances are it will come back up for sale in a year or 2 and you can buy it back. i cna't remember the amount of times i've had a chance to buy back stuff that i sold thanks to forums/the internet (so far the list is: paintball gun, the skyline gt-r, my 2nd car ever which was a 97 civic dx hatch and last but not least a GSX-R600).
