I have a replacement part from Sunset in Oregon (they were great - and probably the least expensive OEM Porsche part I will ever buy), but I noticed that there is no way to secure the plastic handle to the metal pin.

I was thinking of using a small bit of epoxy to basically attach the plastic to the metal, but I wasn't sure if there was a legit reason for those handles not being secured to the pins.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I have recently purchased a 1999 C4 and one of the plastic rear seat levers was missing (about the only thing wrong with the car cosmetically). I have a replacement part from Sunset in Oregon (they were great - and probably the least expensive OEM Porsche part I will ever buy), but I noticed that there is no way to secure the plastic handle to the metal pin. The other lever is also just "placed" on the metal pin. Is this normal, or is there some sort of plastic failure that has happened? I was thinking of using a small bit of epoxy to basically attach the plastic to the metal, but I wasn't sure if there was a legit reason for those handles not being secured to the pins. Thank you for any suggestions and/or opinions. And, here is a picture of the "dream" car in question as introduction. Thanks, Kurt pcar.jpg

Excellent, that is by far my preference ... and the easiest solution! Thanks for the info! Nice car, BTW. I couldn't do the red 'cause I was too scared of the po po! But I suppose they can't catch can they! ;-)

POST 4Original post

Mine kept coming loose. I put a strip of duct tape over the metal and pushed it on. Much better fit.

Something of mine came loose when I looked at your profile picture. That's a really nice police car! Great idea about the duct tape ... Thanks, and feel free to post again so that I can review the photo more carefully. Kurt
