Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, Has anybody experimented with aftermarket brake pads? I am currently using the original ones from Porsche and they have done very good at the track and during daily driving. However, the dust A LOT I was wondering if there is something out that that: 1) brakes better 2) gives a better brake feel 3) do not squeaks as much 4) last but not least, does not DUST AS MUCH What about that Green Stuff or BHP? Comments, ideas?

POST 2Original post

i have tried pagid blue pads on my former boxster. the brake feel was better, they seem to have a little more bite. they do produce as much dust as the stock pads and they squeal a bit. i have mintex pads on my 996 now. they seem to have as much braking power as the oem pads, maybe a tad better. feel is about the same, however they produce MUCH less brake dust and they don't squeal. i didn't even use the anti vibration pads on the backs of the pads. YMMV and this is all IMHO. i haven't taken the 996 to the track (yet) but occasionally take her for a spirited drive up the mountains and down to the coast.

POST 3Original post

I've heard that the Mintex are good for low dust. I use the Ferodo 2500 pads. Way more braking power, no squeal and a bit less dust but I have the very open five spoke wheels so they're very easy to clean. The Ferodos cost a small fortune as well.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was taking a look at these: http://www.bhpbrakes.com/technology.htm I searched on the forum but I could not find anybody that has used them...

POST 5Original post

by their specs, they look like a club sport pad... not true track pad, just really aggressive street pad with up to 1100 degree range... may be interesting to try for street use for me... what's the cost?
