Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

Dunno about in other parts of the country, but in CO it's not unusual for people to put their windshield wipers in the "up" - windshield cleaning - position when a storm is expected, so they don't freeze to the windshield.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just cleaned out the car and went out for a warm-up ride yesterday . This morning, I've got the snow blanket again. The black one parks near me. I've seen the owner, but he's not very chatty. What's with the spoiler? I assume poseur, but maybe there's something I don't know. Do they get iced down? Mine's under the blanket.

POST 2Original post

He probably raised it manually and forgot to lower it, along with his front and rear foglights that are most likely on all the time as well.

carpundit may have had a point with the spoiler getting iced down. I know that when my Miata is going to sit through a winter storm, I put the concealed headlights in the "up" position or they'll get stuck in the "down" position by the ice and snow. ...but he's probably just a poseur, yeah.

Looks kinda funny in the parking lot - all these cars with their wipers pointing skyward.. Must be.. it says so right there on his license plate... - Nick

We do that here, too. Well, not under the car cover. But our wagon has its blade pointing up. I kind of doubt that explains the spoiler, though. By the time you hit 75, the engine heat would have melted anything anyway.

I found 1/2"+ of ice on my "outdoor cars" the other morning. It took me over 20 minutes to just get the door open on my work car. Of course, if I had to park my 996 outside with no cover, I'd have made sure that the spoiler was unobstructed, so I'll agree with you.

Agreed.. the simplest explanation is that it was manually activated and left that way.. maybe the owner just likes the way it looks. One would hope so, anyway. I suppose it's possible to start the car cold and go from 0-75 in a few seconds, but probably not advisable - Nick
