Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well, not actually at the same time, but you know what i mean i saw a few posts asking the same question, but no answer. i ordered a becker monza a two months ago and it's still not here. thinking about cancelling it. my wife's company just gave her a 15g ipod. why i don't know....however, she has no use for it so she gave it to me. i've got the factory bose system with cassette player and cdc changer. is there a way to hook up the ipod and maintain the changer? i am fearful that the stock radio will only accept one aux source.

POST 2Original post

On my 2001 CDR 220, there is only one aux input. So you need to choose. But if every CD you own is on the iPOD (why wouldn't it be?) there is no problem.

POST 3Original post

I have been playing around with this problem for several weeks. My current solution uses the Becker auxiliary adapter plugged into the head unit where the CD input is normally located. The aux adapter ends in two female RCA jacks. To this I attached a cable with male RCA jacks on one end and a male 3.5mm stereo plug on the other. I ran this wire through the dash into the passenger footwell. I then disassembled one end of a wire with a 3.5mm stereo connector on each end. Inside the shielding I found two shielded wires surrounded by a collection of unshielded wires (Right, Left and Ground). I put a small male spade connector on each wire an plugged this into the block transmitting sound from the CD changer. I also ran this wire into the footwell. Now, I can plug the iPod to the 3.5mm jack connected to the stereo. Or, I can plug the CD changer into the 3.5mm jack using an adapter. If you attempt something like this, remember that a CD must be in the changer for you to select CD on the head unit when you are listening to the iPod. Search here and Renntech.org for additional information including ways to hardwire your iPod so it remains powered/charged.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a tape player in the dash so I think I'm going to keep the becker monza i ordered when it comes in, sell the changer, and install the ipod. that way i'll have in dash cd as well the ipod. the changer is a pain in the *** anyway since it's in the trunk.

POST 5Original post

why don't you use a tape adaptor for the ipod?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ruins the sound. tape adapters suck and they look bad. I have one in my work car for my xm radio. sound is flat and there are wires everywhere.

POST 7Original post

Deputy, There is a really sweet install that someone on here did, do a search for Ipod. They spliced into a Belkin car charger, so that only one plug goes into the Ipod (the one on the bottom), so you get power and sound. Me, I'm lazy, I have the std headphone jack for sound, and a belkin charger for power when I need it. The battery lasts several hours. As red cab said, there is no need for a CD changer when you can fit most if not all of your cd library on the ipod...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah, i saw that. looked great. just not sure if you can have an ipod and a changer togther.

POST 9Original post

I've heard of some people custom wiring it so there is a switch. Its the same input source, so all you should need is the becker aux kit, and a trip to radio shack.

POST 10Original post

Is that the European version, or do they now have a US version available?? TIA
