I recommend you should post a list of acceptable cars in your window when you park and give a recommended distance based on how much space you need to get your slim and graceful figure into your Porsche

I walked down from my office to the parking garage in my work building this afternoon. What do I see???? A filthy dented Toyota minivan parked 10 inches from my car.
I could not even get into my car, I am not sure how the driver got out without denting my car. The situation was too close for comfort.
Honestly, my first reaction was to spit a giant driping louggy on the windshield or kick in the side of her van. (I admit that is extreme but I was instantly insane) I'm sick of these crap cars humping my car when I park.
I left a note insted which went something like this;
Look here, not everyones car is a piece of **** like yours, please take time to respect real vehicles. Dont park so freakin close as to cause damage to someones car. Just because you are sloppy doesnt mean the rest of the world is. Here is a dollar, go wash your crappy car and have some respect for yourself and others.
I placed the note and a dollar in her window and laughed all the way to my office.
Yeah...please tell me you moved your car before you went back to work, ortherwise that lady is going to crap all over your baby.
On the other hand, that is too funny. But where in DC can you get a car wash for a buck?
its an auxilary lot I never use.
LOL, Yes I did move the car before I placed the note.
LOL, do I know u?
You're an A-hole , go wash her minivan
There comes a time when you are fed up with the inconsideration of others. I wash my car 3-5 times a week and take great care of it..
Now Trust me, I could have really been an A-hole and reacted much harsher.
Plus, I moved my car, I don't think the person paid attention to what I was driving. LOL, if she even knows what a Porsche is in the first place.
Well, him or some other unsuspecting Porsche driver.
Whenever I park my car, or any car for that matter regardless of value, I always try to leave as much space as possible. But then again, what do you expect from our country where the obesity rate is higher than the percentage of people that can actually solve middle school math problems?
I live in NYC, so I know all about consideration. Its a freakin car, you are gonna get dented, you are gonna get rock chips (lots of them), you are going to get bird crap on it and lots worse... if you want to keep your car in pristine condition, then don't drive it... nonetheless, with all the BS in the world someone parking close to your car should be the least of your worries. ;-)
I gotta agree. By the original posters own admission there was no damage. No reason to be a dick to a person that can't afford (or doesn't care to buy) a nicer car.
Well, I'm gonna side with Vulture on this one, or at least play devil's advocate, and I thought it was a funny story.
First, fortunately, I don't have to "park in the city." Where I park, I usually park so far out of the way that I practically have to take a taxi. Besides, excercise is good I tell myself. Despite this, I have several times found some POS parked very close and sometimes with free dents in my body panels when there is really no other car around for 5 or 10 spaces. There are f***'s out there who are jealous and do it on purpose. I've even seen them do it from a restaurant window.
Sure, it could have been someone who is just fundamentally a slob, but it could have also been one of those spiteful f***'s I mentioned above. It goes with those people who take their dog for a walk and let their dogs cr*p in your yard even if there are laws against it.
Some people have no respect for others' property. Maybe the guy/gal does need to park more carefully? If it was some spiteful person, maybe they even got a kick out of it that they pissed off some "rich guy" and got a dollar for doing it?
Remember she didn't break any law by parking 10 inches from your car.
It would have been
nice
if she has parked furthur but she didn't do it. Why ? I don't know ... maybe she didn't have space, didn't care as long as she didn't scratch, simply oblivious ... it doesn't matter.
Unless you were
ABSOLUTELY
sure that she did that out of malice, by doing what you did, you did come across as an A-hole (even if you aren't - I'm no judge) to whoever hears this. If you're going to use public roads, you should be prepared for this, else you need a private road.
Its a beautiful car, but its still just a car ! Can't lose our human values over these ... live and let live.
PS: I also hate it when people park close ("did they scratch me?") ... but then they have the same right on the roads and other public areas as me. Driving a porsche or a ferrari doesn't make anyone a God (sad eh?).
Vulture,
Some of us understand and some of us dont...that being said...I take care to "educate" as you do the undesirables who park so close you cant open your door etc.. I could be driving a Yugo and if someone pulls in a parking spot A) too small for their car B) Parks with their wheels a foot across the stripe into your space..I'm not going to just pull out and go on my way....These people have no respect for society....never mind persons who actually work hard for nice toys.....yeah yeah its "just a car" ..how about its just common sense and a little mutual respect regardless of the car your driving.....I get it...too bad some dont......oh and obviously anyone who drives a Porsche in NYC is a masochist and you get what you get
Here's where your story went south for me:
If you had said "other people's vehicles", I'd be right there with you. It's too snobbish for me. I mean, the kid who works his butt off for, say a nice little Honda, keeps it clean and nice, and cares about it, doesn't deserve the same respect as a high and mighty Porsche owner?
Definitely too snooty for my taste. I drive a 93 ford taurus in the winter in chicago that's probably worth $750. And let me tell you I can afford to buy many 997s's over and over again. I'm always careful parking my beater next to a nice car out of respect from what I have. You never know who's in that beater. You accomplished one of two things: you got someone really pissed off or you made them feel like ****. If the guy did no damage to your car, which he didn't, you have no right to put crap like that on his car. If he dented your car, that's another story. It's America, and you have to be accepting of the 99.5% of vehicles that are ****, or soon they'll all try and make yours look like ****.
Having more money to buy nice cars unfortunately doesn't give you power.
So quick to criticize, aren't we? I'm taking Vulture's side too. Unfortunately, we have to live in society where people have no respect for themselves, their belongings or anyone elses. They drive crap to match thier crappy lives and have no idea how much sweat and care we put into our cars. Fortunately, I haven't been upset enough to leave a note. If I did, I'd probably mess with their mind by scaring the crap out of them, hoping they'd think twice before repeating their rudeness. Maybe putting a note on their car stating they dented your Porsche with an estimated repair cost of $1200. Say you took pictures of the location and proximity of both cars and your lawyer would be in contact with them. Based on thier insensitivity, they probably wouldn't know if they dented your car or not. Nervously waiting for your call, they'd probably be sure not to take a chance like that again, whether it was your Porsche or anyone elses.
Get over yourselves. It's America. It's filled with white trash, Mexican illegals, and other dirty lowlife citizens. And it's also the greatest place in the world to live. Don't buy a $100K car and suddenly expect everybody to bow down before you and move out of your way. If you think they care about you and your stupid letters, wake up. Your litigation costs will be more than the effort and cost to repair the vehicle. It's only a car. I'd hate if someone ruined mine right away MORE THAN ANYTHING, but that's what you're going to get when you drive something that cost more than 3 years of per capita earnings after taxes for an average citizen.
If we don't like it we should move to Dubai.
oh, forgot to to add, their may be some assumptions being made about the person and the car, but I'd say thay are warranted, considering the insensitive parking. A beater car would be welcome if it was parked a reasonable distance away. Again, it's not about the car, it's about the action. Putting the two together paints a probable picture of the person.
I'll definately agree the note could have been phrased better. However, I'll also admit, in my lifetime, I've lost my temper to the point of using derogatory comments like that. (Not in a note, but in general) I'm not proud of it, but it would be hypocrical for me to criticize. Therefore, I chose to support his frustration and try to imagine what I would have done in the same situation.
Have you guys ever noticed if you park your Porsche several spots away from all the other cars in the parking lot, it doesn't take long for someone to park RIGHT NEXT TO YOU, even though there are many other more convenient options available? I'd swear Porsche's have parking magnets built in them. On the other hand, it's actually understandable. People know a Porsche owner isn't going to ding thier door. If I have to make a choice, I catch myself parking next to the nicest car available, knowing they will be as respectful as I am.
I can also admit the note could have been phrased better but it was fueled by anger. Now, more calm, I think I bugged out a little but still ..the car was a piece of crap, not because it was cheap, because the owner had it dented on every side and it was dirty as sin. I was parked in the far corner and we were the only 2 cars in the area. I am 5'11" 175 lbs and I could not get into my car. There was no reason what so ever to park so close. I'm not a snob and the dollar was my way of laughing it off.
I'm with Vulture. Sure, everyone has a right to drive their car and park their car, but that person showed a complete lack of respect against another person's car, regardless of what that car is. Sometimes when I'm not driving the Porsche I drive a Honda -it's old, it's got car door dings, and yes, that stuff happens. But when a person parks so close that you can't get out, that person is either being an *** or is completely ignorant . Why should we not say something? Just keep our mouth shut so as not to be disrespectful? They're the disrespectful ones and they deserve to be told so. The matter of the confrontation differs with every person, but that's really irrelevant. The matter is that they are told.
I am sick and tired of people saying it's rude to confront someone when they deserve to be. That is why they keep doing it, because they know people won't say anything. Cheers to you Vulture for saying something!

I also want to keep my cars in pristine condition, so I understand your initial concern. IMO however, as soon as you saw that there was no damage to your car, you should have uttered a couple expletives to relieve the stress and then drove off. By writing the note you are going down a path to an unknown destination. The note you wrote was way over the top and if I were you I wouldn't take my Porsche to work for a while. Otherwise a damaged Porsche could be the least of your worries.
Sorry, you lost me too.
I know no Porsche driver - myself included - can claim to be a tree hugger but washing the poor car that often is simply wasting water. I'd mark you down on being inconsiderate here. (be careful you don't fade the paint)
Also there is no law about driving a clunker, no law about parking next to your scrubbed car, no law about the space he/she should leave you to get in, etc....
I recommend you should post a list of acceptable cars in your window when you park and give a recommended distance based on how much space you need to get your slim and graceful figure into your Porsche
V,
I understand the frustration on your part but if I drive a piece of **** minivan and a Porsche driver leaves that note on my windshield I will scan parking lots looking for P-cars to park next to. No damage to your car so don't damage the emotions of someone less fortunate cause next time they will ding your car on purpose.
k
There aren't many side by side parking spots in the City unless in a garage.
I was way out in the burbs of Vienna, VA last night and had to park in my buddy's condo complex. I parked as far away as I could and still when I left there was a honda civic coupe parked right next to me. I have no idea how they got out of the car. I haven't had a chance to check for a ding yet I'm betting something is there though. I don't have to worry about dings when I park in the hood.
It seems to me that when other people are rude, oblivious, etc. and they disrespect someone or their property, blatantly cutting off, parking inches from your car with 12 open spaces in the back 40 of the lot, yelling on their cell phone in public places, dog crapping on your lawn, etc. If the person who feels trampled does anything, says anything, they are the ones who end up looking wrong..... I am not condoning the note, but even more politically correct measures were taken, they would just call you a stuck up a$$haole and disregard what they did, because they fail to recognize that it is indeed disrespectful.
I think it is just a symptom of a society in decline. How to solve? I dunno!!!
I was just quoting you. First you talk about respect and then you drop this line. Illegal stay is not a state of mind. White trash and low lifes maybe. But I refuse to judge the desire for wanting to leave a country where they have no future while paradise is just across the border. Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying it's okay - I just think a lot of us would try the same if we were in their shoes.
Besides - I look around and I can see none of them here. At least no mexicans.
But hey - I live in Germany. We have arabian sleepers and other trash instead.
I wasn't asking for approval, it was just a story of what happened yesterday.
IRISHDRIVER, I will call you when I get to Germany, let me know where your car is so I can come take a dump on the hood and you can smile and wave as I wipe. HAHAHAHA U european guys are really sensitive, LMAO
Some will understand what I did and some will say it was wrong. Thank GOD we are all different....
I don't know if this was the case here, but if someone parks over the line so far that I can't enter my vehicle they are getting MORE than a note from me, has nothing to do with whatever car I'm in, if they deny me access to my property, they will be sorry
LOL, thats what I was thinking as well but hey, like I said earlier, WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. As it is good to get people's opinions, it doesn't mean I will change my actions in the future.
I was taught to defend mine and stand up for myself. Maybe some were taught to be chumped and take it, I dunno, but thats not me.
No Sweat tweety bird,
IMHO the mickey mouse note at the top was about all you were entitled to do for the amount of inconvience you got. Insulting his income level, his car etc.,etc., is not cool. Maybe it is the only car that can carry his wheel chair - and that's why he parked close on your side.
However, I'm looking for the clunker van forum where the guys chat about how they wound up a over sensitive Porsche driver who takes offence at them sharing his world.
Just think of the laughs when he tells how he got the Porsche driver so mad just by parking next to him that the guy wrote a rude note and left him money !!!
Now that is a funny story.
I think mostly the self made Porsche owners feel me on this subject. I am 30 years old, not as mature or old or rich as some of you. I just became an adult, lol. I work for everything I have. The 996 is more to me than some car to drive. I love my car like a family member and I will protect it like one as well. No matter what some conservatives say...
Hey Vulture,
Not to be repetitive but I'm with you on this one. Although, as other's have mentioned, I would not have worded the note as you did. I'll call people when they're being a-holes, and this was surely the case. I mean, do people think there are no consequences to their behavior just and the rest of us should just accept that?? Not on my dime...
For example, I was driving down the highway last weekend minding my own business when a car in front of me dumped their cup of coffee out their window, down the highway and all over my car! I was not tailgating them but it still splashed all over my car. When I confronted the guy, he claimed it was my tough sh#t for driving a nice car. What????? I won't tell you where the story went from there but WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING????
Let's just say I did some things that I'm not proud of and were very juvenile but rest assure, the perp knows that his actions were not proper. I mean, how can some one actually defend that action? I would have been less livid if he had just said something like "Sorry, I didn't realize it." but he actually defended his rude actions. Uggggh, I'm getting mad again just thinking about it... 10, 9, 8, 7... Deep breath, think of Happy Place.... Is it me or is the world really becoming a less civil place?
What the beater did was not good. How you responded was absolutely uncalled for. On a scale of 1-10 for stupidity/disrespect, if that person was 4, you went straight for a 8 ! You might be a nice guy otherwise, but that incident was a certain 8.
BTW, I'm a "self made Porsche owner" and I'm 25. There are better ways of dealing with stuff like this without being an a$$hole. You
need
to be an ******* in some situations (like below) but its not healthy to be one for too long or on minor occurances.
Joe2000C4Cab : People throwing coffee is outright, in your face, aggression. And then talking like that !! I really want to know what happened after that. A few years back someone had thrown coffee on my right fender (in my old Sebring convertible) ... I threw in an
open
plastic bottle (filled with water) inside his car, onto the rear seat. The guy was mind-f**ked ! He slowed down and went away. Hate to confess it .... but I was young(er) and stupid ! And yeah, this was in LA.
But hey - I guess vulture would have ended up taking all of them down with a shotgun or grenade if someone did THAT to him.
Does "self made Porsche owner" mean
a) you own a Porsche you made your self?
b) you made yourself buy the Porsche? or
c) you are genetically engineering yourself to be a Porsche Owner?
Man, you guys gossip like old women! Remember I said I was not proud of it and it was juvenile.
I was not driving my 911, I recently aquired a MB E55. I think it's fair to call the E55 a sleeper car. When the event happened, I immediately flashed my high beams and got beside the a-hole. Yes, at 60mph+ I had a verbal excahange. Best part of it was after he said it was my tough sh*t for having a nice car, he tried to take off and lose me. Ha, ha... (Here's the not proud part..). So, I f*cked with him for several miles. I knew he was good and freaked out by me when he 1/2 jumped a shoulder to hit an offramp we/I had passed, almost literally going airborne.
Listen, I think people need to be told they are acting disrespectfully to others. I could have doulbed back after him and given him the *** whoopin deserved. gravedgr, in a younger day I would have. However, you just don't know what kind of nut is in that car (and what they might be packing). I have two fantastic kids and a beautiful wife I don't want to have to explain that their Daddy isn't coming home because someone got his car dirty.
I made my point, he bailed. I drove to the car wash. End of story.
You're so right Joe. When I was a kid, I got on a fight now and again, and even when I won, I never really won, you know?
Now, I take it a step further. I never ever play the road rage game. Ever. Period. I have too much to lose to their nothing to lose attitude. And like you said, who only knows if they have a gun and are more than tempted to use it.
No thank you. I'm too old (34) to worry about looking cool these days. I just slow down, chill out, turn on the radio, and wait for a nice country road to hit the corners.
As for Vulture's note and the dollar on the windshield; it's harmless. Could he have been more respectful or mature about it? Sure...or perhaps. But he was pissed and it was a harmless outlet. I've known some rougher dudes in my past that would have had at that car and but good. If a dollar and a rude note are what it takes for Vulture to chill out, then why not?
I'll be the first to admit there are two very conflicting attitudes evident in my behavior. However, in my defense, I'll say my reaction was mostly driven by the moment. It did ruin what has been one of the very few nice weekend days recently. I wandered through the rest of the day just muttering to myself "What a d*ck!"
Oh, and thanks for cheering me up Edward. I'm 38 and until your post, I didn't think I was that old... :-)
Oh man, there's that O word. It never really sounds bad until one realizes how long ago it was when we were in high school. Can you imagine having a 911 then? Ah, so choice.
I meant it more like, in my 20s, I probably spent more time worrying about what looked good instead of what felt fun.
If this car is like family to you then we definitely have a different idea of what family is. It has nothing to do with being conservative, just educated. What you did was uneducated. It might have been funny, but I think that the humor was definitely one sided. You just went from trying to educate someone on parking etiquette to belittling them.
People here are trying to educate you and not belittle you. We could be saying that you're trailer trash for saying something as asinine, especially for something so petty.
This is how people come up with jokes like, what is the difference between a porcupine and a Porsche? One has ****** on the outside.
Anybody who thinks this is a good move needs a life! Lets look at this Vulture 96 she/ he did not dent your car and they had the right to park there. In a world where you think that person was not acting in a proper manner on a scale to 1-10 she/ he would be a 3 where you are up at a 7-8, i.e. you were wrong and whether you are a jerk or not I do not know but trust me you sure look like one now. May I recommend a short tour to somewhere like Iraq or Afghanistan so you can evaluate your life, how important you really are and your rage. Lastly remember that Sam Walton, used to be the richest man alive till his death, drove an old pickup truck .... maybe this other person has 100 times the money as you and you insult them by putting a dollar on their car! That other person could be a wonderful human being but you will never know and trust me they now believe that old Porsche joke.
ps Not a funny story! and yes I am a member even though it does not show yet
Petty... hm.. what an appropriate term for this thread. Don't get mad. I didn't say who or where. Maybe i was referring to my self, who knows? I think I just want to go play somewhere else
This thread has more drama than a Telenovela.
Here is my take: It is stupid to get involved in these types of disputes, whether you are right or wrong.
First, you can't always know "why" someone is parked close to you. It could be that an @ssm*nch two spots away parked extremely badly, so the person next to you had no choice . . . in other words, your anger is directed at the wrong person.
Second, life is too short to be pissed about something that didn't result in damage, and it is way too short to leave money behind. Think about the compound interest you could have gotten for that dollar. That might have been your TT on retirement day. If I thought I could get a dollar by parking badly, I would park badly every day.
Third, you will not change their behavior, so why bother. If you are going to get pissed, do something more gratifying, like buying a big jug of vegetable oil and a 10 lb bag of flour and do your own version of tar and feathering in a way that will not do any permanent harm.
In the end though, just let it go if there is no damage. Count your blessings and be overjoyed that it wasn't worse rather than focusing on how bad it could have been.
...what if the toyota owner thinks the message came from the car on the other side.....
He'll probably use the Hedgehog (European Porcupine) joke on some innocent set of car owners for the rest of his life.
Actually I now think this is a wind up - tell the truth Vulcan - you made the story up just to get a laugh. Nobody could pay people a dollar every time they inconvience him.
LOL.......this post is hilarious!!
Do you honestly believe that lions share of the people on this board got their cars through means other than hard work?
Better still, you love your car like a family member?? Newsflash.....we all love our cars (why else would we waste time on a board like this discussing them), but they are just cars!! If I gotta choose, Porsche vs. Family, the cars are not even a close second.
I agree with Rountreed on this one, you need to examine your priorities. But keep digging, I'm not sure that hole you are standing in is big enough yet.
The great thing about a Hedgehog is they are small and you can pet them, I would not try that on the American Porcupine. I hope you are correct about Vulcan, could you imagine doing that in all the parking garages in Germany? I love the country but hate the parking. Outside that Irish driver are you from Ireland? If so whats up with 9 euro for a 6 pack of beer?
yep, an Irishman in Heidelberg.
...and where did you get the six pack that cheap?
The greatest contradiction in Ireland is the price of drink versus the amount consumed.
As for German Parking, I once had to lower the windows with the remote control to climb in and get the car out.
Some people line up the car, leave the hand brake off, get out, lock it, and then push it into the space. You can get the inter-car space down to six inches this way. When you come back you pull the car out the unlock it and get in.
Been there, done that. But that was here in San Diego at a friends parking lot. Every single spot was taken and the only spot was a tight one. I rolled the convertible top down, jumped out of the car ... honestly ! No, really ! I swear !
I think the bottom line is the person really had no intention of irritating you on purpose and they didn't ding your car so there must be some credit given to that person and no need to look down at people driving old beat up cars. Now if he had dinged your door -thats another story.
This reminds of the time a couple of years back when I had dinner at a very nice restaurant and the bus boy accidently tripped and spilled the ice water pitcher on my guest who was a CEO of a Large chain of departments stores. The CEO did not jump up and scream or tongue lash at the terrified "Server" but graciously just made a joke of it and laughed it off and just told the worried employee it was all right and no harm done and just wiped himself off as best he could and continue with dinner as if nothing happened. - That was class. If he had screamed at the waiter or tongue lashed him I would have considered him an a..-hole.
They say that how you treat others especially others you percieve to be at a lower social status than yourself speaks volumes of the real you especially on moments of conflict and high stress situations as they are not rehearsed.
What really happened was; a Porsche owner driving her crappy minivan saw a Porsche parked in a spot where another car parked too close on the edge of their spot, such that the remaining spot was too narrow. Knowing that someone would take the spot, she carefully pulled her minivan in, only 10" from the Porsche (and two inches from the other car), to ensure that someone less considerate would not take the spot. Then, she crawled out the back hatch of her minivan, so as not to dent Vulture's car. How else could vulture's car not have been ding'ed, when she was only 10" away? The thanks she got? ...
I have had people in pretty crappy cars park next to mine specifically to protect my car. And I have seen Porsche owners ding other Porsches.
Wow Irish it is a small world, I bought my beer in a little town outside Cork (about an 1hr from where Ryan Air flies) and generally found everything with food and drink expensive but hey you see lots of signs saing this road is being built with EU dollars. Outside that I live in Wiesloch about 10 minutes from you. Will be in East Germany next week but maybe you can tell me do we have a Porsche club inthe Heidelberg area?
Thanks
Porsche Club America Germany Region was killed a few years by Tom Bobbit. He took it on himself to review the purpose of the region and it didn't fit his image. He trumped up a insurance issue and killed the Region. I'm now in the Wutternburg Porsche Club - they do the most sport.
Slalom drivers are in the German Championship. We're in Hockenheim on the afternoon of the 1st July this year.
There are some informal events organised by the EX-PCA community but they are not that frequent.
In Hockheim this evening for a world record attempt....the biggest rolling oldtimer museum in the world. They hope to get over 1000 oldtimers on the track. I'll be in the red 356 (probably there will be lots of them but mine has a HD registration).
We'll have to be careful though because to get that many cars onto the track we'll probably have to be very close together
IT IS ONLY A F...ING CAR...get over yourself...if you are affraid to get it dented..leave it in the garage! And yes there are inconsiderate people...but they can also drive an $140,000 SL500 like I had they other day....it is not what they drive..but if they use their brains.......I just think that when you drive a sportscar you should even be a little nicer to other people, because you are the lucky one!
All the people who take care about their cars have to run the risk of 'going out of the garage'. If you don't want to be dented anymore, try to protect your car with a piece of cardboard box. Some people who parks their luxury cars in the same place into a parking, are provided of this "element". So that, if someone parks close to you, there's no fear to be dented
well put Nicholaas, I couldn't agree more. last thing I want to do is lord it over others that I have an expensive car: it's just bad Karma and what goes around, comes around. IMHO
Yeah, I agree with what everybody else said!
Basically what you're saying is that you're a better person just because they own an old Toyota and didn't quite park right and you own a Porsche that you wash 3-5 times a week? Come on, you're pretty full of yourself. Maybe the car is owned by a single mom that works 3 jobs just to put food on her kids' table and that's the only car she can afford. Maybe it's owned by a military vet that is all screwed up from all the stuff he/she has seen fighting battles in foreign lands. Maybe it's owned by an elderly man or woman that worked their whole life and now is struggling to survive on social security and still has to work to make ends meet. There's so many people that could own that car, but whoever it is, they're obviously a better person than you.
None of us here are saints, but most of us would not post something like this either.
IMO, Vulture996, do not post again on this thread and let this thread die a sloooow painful death and before you know it, most everyone will forget this thread ever happened and life begins anew.
BTW: You %@&#ed up with what you did in the parking lot, but I am sure you are more than aware of that now

I agree. The reason that I believe so many posters responded to this thread is because the utterly arrogant and insensitive behavior described by Vulture perfectly fits the stereotype that so many people have about Porsche owners.
