Another thought is that with the battery disconnected for a few days, the ecu may be relearning??

It almost sounded like it needed to build fuel pressure, though the only fuel lines removed where from the back of the A/C compressor and the car had ran all day?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was helping a friend out with his 996. He lives on a dirt road and had an air/oil separator issue I corrected. the oil and dirt combined to make a hard sludge through out his entire intake manifold which was cleaned out. I noticed a buzz/whine coming from his throttle body when the key was in the II position. I think it may be because there is something blocking the throttle from closing all the way and there is resistance on the flap?? Or do they all make that noise? The car ran all day like a champ but after an overnight cool down it took 2 attempted cranks at 2 seconds each to fire. It almost sounded like it needed to build fuel pressure, though the only fuel lines removed where from the back of the A/C compressor and the car had ran all day? Another thought is that with the battery disconnected for a few days, the ecu may be relearning?? Any other thoughts on this would be great, thanks guys!

POST 2Original post

If his is a cable operated throttle the idle air control valve (IACV) does buzz or hum when the key is on, which is normal. If it is an e-gas throttle body then ensure it is completely clean... replacement might be required. As for the hard starting, it could be fuel pressure which can be tested at the fuel rail. If it is cranking slowly then it could be issues with starter, battery, or wiring.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, it is an e-gas, 2001. The slow start sounds exactly like a fuel pressure issue, but my gut is telling me other wise. The only items fuel related that I touched where vacuum line to regulator and the two cooler lines on the A/C. Unless it is ECU related?
