Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just bit the bullet and bought a 2001 C4 Cabriolet. I've been looking for a long time. Problem was, I was looking for a very specific car with very specific options. I finally found one: My Brand New Baby Because I had such a specific car in mind, my options were limited. So I really didn't have a ton of leverage to negotiate price. I ended up at $51k delivered from Chicago to the East Coast. The car is nearly perfect but, not being a Porsche expert (yet), I have no idea if I got the worst deal in the history of Porsche buying (it's tough for newbies to price these things out with the different options!). Of course, I love the damn car so much... I'm not going to feel bad either way. Anyone care to enlighten me? REALLY looking forward to tapping into the knowledge of this board! JP

POST 2Original post

JP, Ride looks great, love the sports seats. You probably paid on the high side - an '01 with 37k would go in the 43-45k range, but here's the deal - you got the car you wanted. If you were looking for an Arctic Silver Coupe, there are so many out there you could have bargain hunted and found one for 40k, but you wanted a red aero cab with some nice upgrades. What are you gonna do? You gotta pay. Nice job, great car, have fun.

POST 3Original post

You are going to hate this Porsche ......it comes with an already modified interior...great rims...rear spoiler, clear sidemarkers .....what the hell are you going to do??? Drive around in it...NOT modifying it??? I feel really sorry for you!!! BUT there is hope: maybe wheel spacer, sport exhaust, lowering, gaug rings.....cold air intake...... Looks great...you are going to love it!!

POST 4Original post

Great looking car get some cf and it will put it over the top.congrats

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies, guys. Can't wait to be behind the wheel... Nic - I know, I know... the mods look addicting. I'm sure I'll find something! OJ - Clue a newbie in - CF?

POST 6Original post

Great Car, Great options...and CF means Carbon Fiber, and your not so new you know to post pics!

POST 8Original post

Looks awesome, don't have any regrets... there's not many out there that look like that.

POST 9Original post

Sweet ride! The grey interior (which I dont like normally) looks fantastic with the guards red interior (a color I dont fancy much either) But the combo looks stunning! Good buy!

POST 10Original post

Congrats and Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm! Nice Ride! Thanks for sharing teh pics. I really like the wheels. I would recommend a couple of easy and relatively inexpensive mods: B&M Short Shifter Aluminum gauge rings - they will help break up the black of the instrument cluster. Paint your brake calipers red There are a lot of threads that cover these mods, so use the "search" function to get some additional info. Again, Welcome!

POST 11Original post

Very sharp! Does have alot of the cool mods! ENJOY!!

POST 12Original post

Your car looks great! Don't feel too bad. I paid 51,500 for my 2001 C2 Cab. The good thing is that it is in perfect condition, and had only 13k miles on it. It also came with a long list of options that made the original sticker $89,300. It bugged the hell out of me for a month or so, that I paid an '02 dealer price, but now I just enjoy my car. Enjoy yours!

POST 13Original post

Beautiful clean car! congrats, you're going to love every second of it. I pity your other cars; they're going to feel pretty ignored!

POST 14Original post

WOW! Very nice car. The option tag under the bonnet almost ran out of room. Congratulations!

POST 15Original post

Great looking car! Don't worry.. you get what you pay for... Also, yours is ready to go out of the box.... You have a bunch of great looking mods on the car already.. might want to paint the bumperettes to match.... Enjoy!

POST 16Original post

damn, nice looking car. cong~~~~~~~~~~~~ now i need the aero mod on my 01 cab. too

POST 17Original post

This car turns heads. If that's what you wanted, paying it at any price is worth it. Since you only got 800 off of asking, you should get it with CPO warranty. I honest don't think you bargained hard enough. Buying used can work against you if you are very specific and do not want to upgrade/mod afterwards. I would have gotten an 02 instead with the same money. You'll get a glass rear window and 3.6L w better interior and Bose.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I actually did a bit better than $800 off the asking. Included in the deal was delivery from Chicago to CT (straight thru and covered) plus the car had very slight blemishes on 2 of the wheels. I made them pay to have them fixed. All in, I probably saved $2k off the asking (for whatever that's worth). I would have loved to have bargained a bit harder but my hands were tied. I had a list of options I felt I had to have on a C4 (including the red/grey color combo, manual tranny, PSM, aero kit, painted/heated sport seats w/crest, & painted center console). I know I could have approached these aftermarket but it would have taken time I do not have. I definitely didn't care about the Bose system. I've heard it and I wouldn't have kept it. This car goes directly to the stereo shop for a real upgrade. That's one mod I don't mind doing. One thing I would have liked is the glass rear window. Ah well... I found the car I wanted. I was starting to think Summer was going to pass me by.

POST 19Original post

Hey LiveFrom NY, I have a similar car in black, black interior, 18 inch twist wheels. Not as optioned, but aero cab, 2001. Just got it in April. I love it and hardly ever see a ride like it anywhere. I'm in Westchester Cty. You are going to love that car. Congrats and maybe I'll see you in CT. I'm often up that way.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sounds like a nice ride. Another couple weeks and we'll be in the top-down weather. Hope to see up here!

POST 21Original post

congrats and welcome.... we'll most likely be doing a bunch of runs this summer, you should bring the 996 out have fun

POST 22Original post

Very NICE Pcar. I want an aero kit so bad. It will have to wait though. I need to save up for a bigger place. Im sure that you will love your car. I love mine. I didnt wash it for 2 weeks (usually wash it every week) and I forgot how nice it was when clean. Good luck

POST 23Original post

Nice car. The red aerokit cab looks really, really good.

POST 24Original post

In the MD area the asking price for '01 cabs with moderate mileage is around $50K depending on options. So if you were a little on the high side, it wasn't by much.

POST 25Original post

Fantastic looking car. I'm in Westchester, NY and it was already top down weather yesterday so you are going to love sporting around in that thing. I love the options. Drive it for a few months, and then let the mod bug take hold....

POST 26Original post

It's never a bad buy if it makes you happy, and this car abviously does that for you. The most important thing in buying a car is getting one you absolutely love, it prevents you from getting bored in a year or two and wanting another one. If you love this car so much that you keep it for five years and it always brings a smile to your face, the few extra thousand you might have spent initially is meaningless.

POST 27Original post

Welcome. The car is absolutely beautiful, and since you already bought it, I wouldn't ask anyone if you paid too much. You might hear something that takes the fun out of it. Just drive it and enjoy it it's too late to worry about the purchase price. Remember, someone paid much more than you did for that car when it was new. Even if your price was a tad high, someone else already took the bulk of the depreciation hit for you.

POST 28Original post

I must say, *absolutely* beautiful car. Stop worrying about the price you paid and start enjoying your ride.

POST 29Original post

Very nice cab! Congrats. Just enjoy it. Stop worrying about the price, it'll spoil your pleasure.
