Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I run through the gears, up to about 5000 RMP in 3rd, and the Camaro is placed squarely in my rearview mirror ;)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I live in Dallas, and bought my 2000 996 at Park Place. They have a pretty nice dealership, and the service is great. They also give lifetime car washes for free. So today I got my free car wash and was leaving the dealership, and wouldn't you know it, a Camaro SS pulled up next to me at the light. There's not a car in front of us for at least a mile, so when the light turns green - we hit the pedals. I run through the gears, up to about 5000 RMP in 3rd, and the Camaro is placed squarely in my rearview mirror ;) I didn't have my Valentine on, so I hit the breaks and slow down to about 65. About this time, I get the fly-by -> the Camaro shoots by me in full throttle. He just keeps going like he's in a race with an invisible car... Then, about an hour later, a get a light with a Z28. I didn't even bother to shift past second, since he was a gonner off the line. But, sure enough -> I get the fly-by again. Anyone else experience this? It seems a little odd really, but maybe it's common, I'm still pretty new to the whole P-car world... -td ________________ 2000 996 Silver / Grey - Bone Stock

POST 2Original post

You gotta tap your brakes, let them know you're done.... lol.

POST 3Original post

Yup happens all the time. Yesterday a guy in a Hemi Dodge Ram did the same...heck I not only tapped the brakes but also started signalling to turn off! He blew past at about 140Kph in a 60 zone. Dork.

POST 4Original post

TD, Be careful in the area around Park Place. A lot of cops lurk in that neighborhood. It's full of speed traps. Not that I condone street racing, but of all the places to do it, that neighborhood is one of the worst.

The ricer universal sign for the kill is hazards on.

POST 6Original post

I think the logic behind the flyby isn't "I just pwnd you" but "Going fast in cars is fun so you seeing my car go fast must be fun too." An odd bit of logic, though for some reason I can't say that I don't enjoy it when someone does the flyby.
