Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For this price I will take 5! Can you say Scam? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...90945701QQrdZ1

POST 2Original post

That's odd....does he realize that he has EU plates on his car that is in Pennsylvania?

POST 3Original post

Oh yeah...and the VIN is for a 1983 build date 944!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I like how it states for "SERIOUS PORSCHE LOVERS ONLY"

POST 5Original post

Wow - an 8 cylinder turbo 911. That's a rare option. And that seller's been a member for almost 3 weeks! With a track record like that you know they're on the level.

POST 6Original post

Gotta hand it to eBay for doing their due dilligence to keep this crap off the internet. I have a feeling they really dont' care. There should be a much better system in place that potential sellers much go through and then maybe, just maybe, this can get cleaned up. But.....you just know that somebody will fall for it. Poor bastard.

POST 7Original post

Damn, damn, damn! Too bad the item location isn't in Houston, TX, so I can personally visit the seller for a product preview. Who wouldn't want to see an '03, 8-cylinder, $15K, 944 911 Turbo Cab in person?!

POST 8Original post

Maybe it's legit...hey look at the background... I'm sure there's an S-Bahn in Lititz, PA

POST 9Original post

Yeah, and I love how he says, "I keep communitive for your Q.s " LOL

POST 10Original post

Hey, I'll be in Philly this weekend. Maybe a short jaunt to Lititz is in order!

POST 11Original post

Wonder what would have if you told him that you would like to view the car while you are in Philly? Probablywould want a deposit wired to him in Nigeria first

POST 12Original post

Hey Dell, well, if he wants a deposit on this fine automobile wired to him in Nigeria, I'd ask him if he'd take some shares of my "foldable glass" company in exchange...

POST 13Original post

Somebody email this clown and see what he says. Would love the 8-cyl engine myself.

POST 15Original post

OH MY should I stop payment...do you think I gots taken....

POST 16Original post

"jknordic" and "osvaldo290" must be the biggest idiots in the planet. According to the bid history, they kept upping their bids without any competing bids -- they were trying to outbid themselves. Those idiots lucked out though. An even bigger idiot, "olivermarilin" from Estonia, outbid them both.

POST 17Original post

I am going to buy it....15K for a '03 8cyl turbo cab!!..I paid 42K for a 99 cab (no turbo) and only a 6 cyl. and it is a special edition 944 911.....the best of both worlds..I almost think it is a 10 cyl (4 from the 944 and 6 from the 911)...let me try to get him down to 12K. I love special editions and great deals...

POST 18Original post

I emailed the seller and asked about 1) the VIN id's the car as an '83 944 2) the 8-cylinder engine joke 3) location of car, if it was a US car or not Answer: Hi, Thank you for your interest in purchasing my stunning 911 Porsche Turbo Cabrio. I must apologize for the delay in the response to your email, but I am literally overwhelmed by the number of offers I have received in the last 24 hours. First of all, I am the registered keeper and there is no outstanding finance on the car. It is not stolen, has no damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition and hasn't been involved in any accident. Unfortunately it has to go but it will be greatly missed... The price is cheap, because I am selling everything including our house as we have now found the campsite of our dreams and are getting ready to leave. My location is Cagliari, Italy and the car is being shipped from here. I have all the paper work proving ownership, and it will be delivered on foreign plates as it needs to be re-registered. There will be no problems regarding US Customs policy on receiving the item. I will pay all the costs for getting it into the US. You just therefore pay to register it as a US vehicle. The selling price is $15,000.00 with shipping/handling included. If you agree on the selling price, please get back in touch ASAP in order to send you the payment and shipping details. Your prompt answer will be appreciated Monica So I again replied with the questions above. Anyone in Italy want to go have a look?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I fwd'd this to ebay the other day. Should be takandown. I love how he said he found the Campite of his dreams...that's classic. Owns a 911 turbo cab and lives on a campsite!

POST 20Original post

Hilarious response: Hi again, Thank you for your reply and decision to go further in making this transaction. Yes, I currently owe a 944 and I gave the wrong VIN code. The car is a 6-Cyl, sorry. The car is still available, crated at the delivery point of Lufthansa Air-Cargo from Cagliari-Italy, ready to be delivered. I have closed my auction because someone wanted to buy it but I never heard from him again and it turns out to be a dead beat. The car have only 49377 miles on board and comes with a remaining warranty of 10 months, allong with all the necesarry paperwork for you to register it in your name and get it insured. Regarding PAYMENT/SHIPPING here are the details: Before shipping takes place you have to make a deposit of $2,000.00, to see that you have the money and you intend to buy it. If you dont like the car, no questions asked, the deposit is fully refundable. I will provide a tracking number after the car will be delivered in your direction, in order to track your delivery and ensure it's safe and timely delivered. The vehicle will be insured during transportation for the amount of $15,000.00 and it will be delivered at your front door in 6 days. If something happens on the way, you will receive the insurance from the delivery service. You will inspect the car when it will arrive. If the vehicle is not how I described it, I will offer a full refund, upon the return of the item in original condition (return postage at my expense). I will have eBay to contact you with the transaction details in order to offer you purchase protection. In case you did not receive their message please let me know. The transaction will be fully under their surveillance. Please get back to me after, NOW the scary part????? Look at this from eBay: Dear valued member, We verified all the details of this transaction and we concluded that they are accurate. Our verifications confirm seller's contact info and his ability to deliver the item advertised on our site. There is a limited group of sellers on eBay which we can recommend and Monica Miller is one of them. POST 21Original post

eBay themselves can recommend this seller? I think eBay's web site has been hacked... Anyone here an eBay employee? And willing to admit it... :-)

POST 22Original post

How can they recommed a seller with only 8 feedback at that was on Star Wars items. I have checked out sellers with over 20,000 feedbacks and they sent an email saying some about ebay is a buyer beware site and that is why they have the feedback column.

POST 23Original post

The IP address in the so called confirmation from eBay is registered to Inktomi through Yahoo servers. Wonder about that one. Still suspicious.

POST 24Original post

Using SMTP You can send an email and make it appear as if it is coming from anywhere you may want to specify. Just another trick

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yea, I get those ebay emails all the time. They are just cloaking. I like how he is going to give you the tracking # AFTER the car has been delivered! I love this guy. Let's ask him to be a Rennlist member!

POST 26Original post

Maybe we can ask him for a $2000 depost to become a Rennlist member?

POST 27Original post

Just forwarded the 'confirmation' back to eBay....and they confirmed back to me the whole thing is a spoof. Damn good one though! No surprise.

POST 28Original post

I still want to see the Lititz. Maybe Rudolph will out of a job this year.

POST 29Original post

The power of the web.... Seller claims that the car is crated and ready to ship at the Lufthansa-Air Cargo facility in Cagliari, in the island of Sardinia.... and it just so happens that Lufthansa-Air Cargo does not have a facility there (from what I could tell in a quick search at the Lufthansa-cargo site--airport code is CAG).... But maybe I'm wrong since this whole thing looks very legit

POST 30Original post

Ahh and somebody actually WON this auction!! Oh my god.... I can see the deluge of questions that lucky buyer will have now...be prepared guys/gals! Stuff like ahh should there be an exhaust attached to this car? Do Porsches usually come without the engine? And how much does it take to and how long to get a car by boat from Nigera are a few of the expected posts before Xmas! LOL By the way the Winning bid: US $12,301.00

POST 31Original post

Oh yeah and I forgot...be very aware and careful of ebay spoofs and overseas buyers. Had one get me from my Yamaha Home theatre system I was selling because I purchased a new wireless one to go with a new flatscreen LCD for my basement. Buyer offered me more than I was asking for an outside of ebay sale and since my reserve wasn't met...item went unsold. Sent and inquiry email to his intentions and he offered to buy thru a 3rd party his so called "buying agent" who then contacted me and sent a spoof email from Western Union with a confirmation that the $$ had been deposited and was on its way to me via wired Western Union money order. Even got a FedEx shipping paid for by the buying agent the next day. Went against my #1 rule of online shopping and selling and went ahead and sent the theatre set after all I had a confirmation email and website that showed payment was confirmed by a reputable money agent (i.e. Western Union). Well speakers went to Nigeria and money never arrived. Contacted ebay and Western Union and guess what..yes a spoof and a good and sophisticated one...hell the Western Union replies and webpages looked real enuff. Reported it to the FBI Internet commerce fraud site and ebay but doubt if I will ever get my $$ back and sure as hell will never see my speakers again. Just a warning...beware of ebay sales! Especially for 944 911 cab turbo's crated in places for cargo delivery where the cargo carrier doesn't even have an actual hub! LOL

POST 32Original post

So ebay knows it's a scam, but the page is still up? WTF? I hate scambay.
