Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I just dropped off my 1999 996 at the new owner's this afternoon. After a couple of years of complete enjoyment and some very thorough soul searching (and flip flopping), the car has sold. I was fortunate to be able to drive the car a couple of hundred kilometers today to the buyer as final farewell ride. I cannot think of a better young man to own the car (he actually gives me hope for the youth of today, polite well-spoken and an absolute pleasure to deal with). He clearly is an enthusiast and will care for and enjoy it the car. I feel good that the car has gone to a good home and that I know that I have done everything to ensure that he has a good car to start what will hopefully be a lifelong passion for Porsche. I would like to thank all of the members of the list for the comments and help as I have posed numerous questions here over the past couple of years. I will continue to lurk, but will likely be back on the 951 board in the near future. All the best!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fixed... typo. No need to beat your head against the wall.. We all make them from time to time...

POST 4Original post

Fergus maybe go for the turbo 996 instead of the 951.

POST 5Original post

Nice ride Fergus, must feel good when your Porsche goes to a new person who appreciates your car.

POST 6Original post

Good luck Fergus. I'm sorry to see that you sold your 996, but that day will come for most of us. I'm glad to hear it went to a good home. I hope we continue to see you here on the 996 forum!

POST 7Original post

Best of luck, Fergus. At the very least you are spreading the Porsche passion !

POST 8Original post

Sorry to see you go Fergus. Good luck with future Porsche adventures.

POST 10Original post

Well, Fergus, hate to see you move on, but at least the next one is a good target. I owned a 1989 951 for a couple years back in the mid-1990's. It was, and still is, the best DE track car I ever owned. I loved it except for one stupid thing I could not get used to - the different sound of the starter. But my son, who has several 924/944-based cars, says exactly the same thing about my 996. LOL! And the first additional 100 horsepower mod is the cheapest and easiest horsepower in the entire automotive world. Have fun!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the kind words. I will definitely continue to lurk and provide my 2cents where useful. It won't be a 996TT. As much as I would love to have one, the budget will not permit now, perhaps in the future. I am hopeful that I can find a good 951 for a reasonable price and minimize the empty garage time as much as possible.

POST 12Original post

Fergus, I am flattered by your comments and I cannot thank you enough for having provided me with the best buying experience that someone can ask for. I will definetly remember the day I bought my first Porsche car for the rest of my life as it was such a positive experience thanks to you Fergus. I am very fortunate to own my dream car and will do all that I can to maintain it as well as you have (it is thanks to extensive maintenance and care that this car is as immaculate as it is). I assure you that your 996 is now in good hands! I plan on properly introducing myself in another post but I will still post a picture of this elegant beast in it's new stable. This is how the car was delivered to me: Take care Fergus. I wish you the best of luck with upcoming projects and hope that you will soon fill the empty garage space with another P car (I'm sure it won't take very long hehe). Ethan
