Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at purchasing a '99 C4 that's in Birmingham, MI, and was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good independent shop to do a PPI. The car is currently maintained by Auto Europe, and while they have a good reputation, I think it will be worth my while to have a shop that isnt affiliated with the seller look it over. Looking at the Southeast Michigan PCA webpage, here are a few shops: http://www.sempca.org/waterford/tech_insp.html -- does anyone know if any of these specialize in 996s? Thanks for your help! (and a pic)

POST 4Original post

Hey Brad, Kern will be doing the plastic rear window on my new top next week.

POST 5Original post

Fred Lavery Porsche is your best bet, about a 1/2 block up Woodward Ave. from Auto Europe. But, I always take my car to Auto Europe to have service work done. They are very reputable, talk to Tom Schick in Service at Auto Europe.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone, looks like I'll be using Fred Lavery. The folks at Auto Europe seem very nice, but they don't have a tool to read the ECU history (I told Tom about the Durametric software).

POST 8Original post

+1 for Kern Serrota and Fred Lavery. Kern did the work on my car before i owned it and now as well. he is skilled and fair.
