Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

There was a 01' that I test drove but scraped up rims and a broken aero spoiler was a turn off.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've located a 6 speed 03' Seal gray/black 996 C2 with 14k miles. Options include litronics, 18" carrera wheels, heated leather seats, auto dimming mirrors, rain sensor, and wheel caps with painted crest. But No PSM. The owner is firm at $60k.
Would you past on it because of no PSM? I like to drive aggressively, and plan to take it to the track a couple times a year, hopefully. This would be my first 911. So, is PSM a must have?
Thanks,
Russ
Russ I don't know the market in Hawaii, but that is a very high price for a relatively high mileage car. Average miles on a Porsche should be 5-7K in general.
Doug,
This car is in San Mateo, Cali. I just spoke to the owner. He drove the car a lot, but never pushed it. The car never saw north of 5000 rpm. He really didn't know much about his car. I had to explain what PSM was. He did take it in for the 15k mile service. No issues reported except recall on Bose unit which was replaced.
Btw, there's not much inventory here in Hawaii. Most of the cars available are 99's and most of them are cabs. There was a 01' that I test drove but scraped up rims and a broken aero spoiler was a turn off.
In your opinion, is PSM a must have? And, what would be a fair price for this 03'?
Thanks in advance,
Russ
I was out looking and pricing over the last 8 months -- some of the prices that people say you can get these car for -- I think are on the low side. That is not to say that they may not be out there.
I did see a very nice all black 03 C2 6kmiles -- never titled with extra certified war -- 62K
with xenons/psm/ few other nice extras
The car you are looking at -- for the miles and the lack of the extra 2 year warr is IMO not worth the 4k less.
Although I have a 99 C2 it does not have PSM. I was worried about that but have to say the car does not break loose and is amazingly stable.
Just my .02 on PSM
ry322,
Just my opinion.... PSM is nice to have in foul weather and daily driving. Once you get used to car, you'll probably disable the PSM when you're on the track. I don't have PSM, my car is a '99 with LSD with TC (traction control). When I track or autocross the car, I turn off the TC.
If you'll be driving it in Hawaii, I wouldn't be too concerned about the PSM.
I don't know what the rain situation is there, but you certainly don't have to worry about snow. If it rains little, then you really don't need it. Just think, PSM didn't exist until a couple years ago anyway...
We all survived. It is nice to have sometimes though. But in your case, don't worry about it.
