Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 1 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I am polishing my exhaust tips to luster mirror chrome but in a matter of a few days they are coming black again.. Is it they might not be of good chrome or some fake chrome-like material? It is quite frustrating to have the car all clean and shiny and the chrome are brown dirty... Wael 996C299 Brownish Chrome tips

POST 2Original post

Are they truly chrome? I have the stock ones, which are not and can be polished but discolor easily.

POST 3Original post

i think they are polished stainless steel not chrome. they discolor easily, someone told me it because of unleaded gasoline. i think you'll just have to live with it.

POST 4Original post

The only way to change that would be to replace the tips.... The exhaust gasses themselves as well as the heat will continue to discolor the polished stainless.... be thankfull your car isn't a turbo, the excess heat from the turbo quickens the discoloration......

POST 6Original post

my fabspeed tips stay polished for a long time...must be because they're stainless...a little Mother's chrome polish and they clean up easily

POST 7Original post

\ Thats why I didn't get a Turbo.....at least thats the excuse I tell my friends I would think having them chromed by a quality plater would help....
