Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You can't see in in this picture, but I have a clean crack right down the middle of the chin spoiler.

I'm glad it was a clean cut, make it more difficult to see.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I understand guys that the chin spoiler should be considered replaceable like a tire. But I changed my old one for a new one last week and yesterday I hit one of those damn parking blocks (not paying attention) and scraped it up a bit. Is there any way to minimize the marks? I heard someone used sandpaper to do so. Guess I have to call Gert again
If it is black, sand it lightly and apply one or more coats of Forever Black (Performance Products), whatever it takes to cover the scratches and markings. I have scrapped mine several times, only minor scratches, and this stuff works great. It is a dye and may take more than one coat but it definately works on black lip spoilers.
The boomerang is a metal strip that mounted under the front clip on the 993. It protected the bottom from scrapes. I am pretty sure I have seen something similar for the 996, but I do not think it will save your chin spoiler as that part hangs down in front of the car. Since it is such a low mounted part, and it is flat black, I would just clean it up as best as possible. Not worth replacing every time you scrape against something... that will get expensive after a while.
Using the Boomerang will not help avoid what you've done to your chin spolier. That Boomerang is a metal piece that bolts onto the non-aero nose. I'm sure that it may help the aero-kit equipped cars but will not stick down below the small chin spoiler (that Porsche foolishly made from plastic instead of flexible rubber). I have completely given up on worrying about that piece.
Well....I couldn't find it on-line but if it's anything like the part # they had a couple yrs ago it's worthless (IMHO)..........and nothing like the 'Boomerang' for the 986, and that's easy to understand cause the underside is very dif.
The Shank had one designed & made I believe.......he has posted pics of it before.
I remember seeing his picture of that. I think it was for a TT nose. I have to be very careful because I had my lip painted AS and now I'm afraid to lower the car.
Bocky, if you're checking this Forum, I know you have a painted lip on your SG 996 w/a Turbo nose. Is that a problem with you?
I cracked my Chin Spoiler last night also on the San Mateo bridge. It was so windy that there was debris flying everywhere and I ran something over. You can't see in in this picture, but I have a clean crack right down the middle of the chin spoiler. I'm glad it was a clean cut, make it more difficult to see.
I know, I know...I just put the bumper plugs back on.
