Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, I used to be in the market for a 996tt, but now am looking for a NA one. Well I found a 2003, at BH Porsche. The car is 6-spd, has the X51 Power Kit, Sports Exhaust, Sport suspension, 5 spoke 18" wheels, litronics, yellow belts, and yellow center console, and some small other stuff bring it to $93,000. They are offering it to me at invoice ($81,000), then take off another $4000, for the "loyalty letter". My problem is this: I have a 2001 Boxster S on lease that has 14 months left. The buyout now is $43,000, and they will offer me somewhere in the mid 30's. They claim that this 996 has a VERY limited audience, since it is so loud and loaded (I can understand that). In fact, I think they have TWO of them in stock. I love the car, but is the X51 worth it? Can i get them any lower than $77,000? What about the trade in? Will they pay more? Thanks in advance for all your help!

Just an fyi, based on boxster s in chicago. This is black book value which is what dealers use. May be worth more in your area. Most dealers in this market, go by average book which is $33,875.00. BTW for anyone who wants to get black book values, go to www.cars.com. Select search used cars put make and model in. When search results displayed, click a similar car to the one you are trying to get value on and once comes up, hit "get more details" and black book value. Vehicle Value 2001 Porsche Boxster Base Original MSRP: $50,200 Series: S Body Style: 2D Roadster Mileage: 9,000 Back Condition Trade-In Value Retail Value Extra Clean N/A $41,025 Clean $36,125 $40,225 Average $33,875 $36,925 Rough $26,320 $31,500 Values based on an odometer reading of 9,000. Black Book: The Price Guide the Auto Industry Uses Copyright 2003 Hearst Business Media Corp. *****If it were me, I would try and squeeze an extra couple grand out of the boxster on trade. Also, try and squeeze them a little on price. 04's are here or will be here shortly, if they have two, they certainly do not want to sit on two 03's when the 04's arrive. The dealer gets a holdback for every car they sell of about $3000. So, try and get them to include that and then reduce price further to try and close the gap between trade value and amount owed. You can also roll everything into a loan. Balloon financing or new lease can bury some of the negative money. However, only problem with that is in your situation you only have 14 months left. Financially, better deal to keep car and have $0 loss in 14 months than a $7-8k loss now. If you can get them to discount the car more to include the holdback and more yet because 04's are coming I would bite. Good luck. -Lou

POST 3Original post

Lou, In looking at this site it appears options on the vehicle have no value. I have heard this before but a basic C2 vs. a C2 with aero kit, technique pack, bose, exclusive etc . Both can not be valued the same, or can they? roy

POST 4Original post

If you drive it fast and hard, the X51 is worth it. It is FAST, noticable faster than a std 3.6. I track the car alot and love the extra acceleration. IMO, worth every penny.
