Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The only time I had that issue was when I left the car running.

Started it up, drove it to the gas station, topped it off etc, double checked the cap, still at 1/8th tank now with 29 miles remaining showing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This morning on my way to work I stopped to fill up withe the gauge reading about an 1/8th of a tank. Put a little over 13 gallons in and when I went to start it up the needle never moved and my low fuel light/warning stayed on. I drove it another 3 miles to the office and nothing.
I understand the C4/Turbos had an issue and searching around there may be a TSB 1/04 2066 on the MY02-04 cars (not sure if it was for C2s). Anybody had an issue like this on a C2?
Leading up to this the gauge has been working perfectly and there was no indication of anything being wrong. I did leave the lights on and those occasionally take a minute or two to come on but I don't think it would be related.
2002 C2.
It may be the cap is not sealing properly. I just replaced my gas cap. I had the same issue during a refuel. Car was turned off , I gave the gas cap a few more turns, fuel gauge was reading correctly once again.
When I was having starter issues with my 99 I would leave the car running when I fueled it up and it wouldn't read the gas level accurately. The only time I had that issue was when I left the car running.
Car wasn't running, I just left the lights on. I'll double check the cap at lunch. Thanks for the suggestions. I've also been reading that for some people it just started working again due to various "things" like switching gas stations, additives, bumpy road (moved wires out of the way in the tank???)
Did you fill it up all the way or just stop at 13 gallons? If you did not fill it up all the way the "low gas light" sometimes stays on.
Go back to a gas station and fill it 100%. Bet that does the trick.
Gauge didn't move either though. Was still at 1/8th of a tank 3 miles and 10min later.
Starting to wonder if any gas actually went in the tank at all and I just got scammed lol.
Correct.....the gauge will not read correct if you don't fill it 100% after having run the tank down that low. Also...when I fill up I pull the key out of the ignition when filling. Not sure if that is a benefit or not.
Well I double checked the cap, 2 clicks, started it up and took it around the block and after about a 1/4 mile it started heading up to full. I'm not sure what that was all about but I think I'll be filling it up before the light from now on. Range still said 27 miles and now its back in the low 300s
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Well it happened again, tonight on the way home I stopped to fill up with the needle slightly above 1/4 tank (52 miles showing on range) and it never went up. Full tank. Got home with the needle still dropping to 1/8 tank and 31 miles showing. Started it up, drove it to the gas station, topped it off etc, double checked the cap, still at 1/8th tank now with 29 miles remaining showing. This is in an 02 C2 btw.
Am I ok to disconnect the battery? There seems to be some back in forth regarding the C4/C4S but I didn't think the c2 had this issue. Will it need to be recalculated or something? I also need to take my head light switch out and clean it as it's acting up as well. The last thing I need driving home is no lights and a non working fuel gauge. Lol, what a day.
