Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

(Check with your insurance, for I believe in some policies if the car is not legally parked insurance may not cover any damage.)

Of course, I wish I had a Ford F-150 to run over his leaf blower.

I came outside at a hotel recently, and found some idiot using a leaf blower right next to my car, blowing the entire pile of dirt, sand, leaves and trash right at my car.

In car cctv stickers off ebay (you can actual get in car cctv reasonably cheaply, although the ones I've seen use wifi so probably only any good v near home), the stickers are probably enough for people to think they may be pursued for any damage...take them off again when you're back home...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wondering if anyone has come up with ideas about keeping car safe at motels for overnight stop. Besides obvious, try to park so in view of front desk or in front of your room and in plenty of light.
How good is the alarm system on 2002 996? Best way to arm system?
Best way to test alarm?
thanks

You could also make up fake reserved signs for the spaces either side your car lol
Rent your car a room too?
JK...but when you think about it, the defining difference between a hotel and a motel means your Pcar will be parked pretty close to your room instead of in a large parking lot. Might actually be safer there, unless they rent rooms by the hour!
Will not matter as everyone will know what it is from the silhouette. You'll probably need to place a cardboard box at the back to throw off the shape.
Or... Just back in your car so the front headlights are showing and no one will mess with it.
Been staying at motels/hotels for years with my Porsches and never had any problems.
I park as close to my room as I can or park where the car is visible from my room if I'm not on the ground floor.
Generally where/when possible I'll also park the car where it is on CCTV and visible from the front desk.
I avoid parking the car in the registration drive as this invites damage from careless people coming/going or from some vandal who takes exception at my parking the car outside of a legal parking space.
(Check with your insurance, for I believe in some policies if the car is not legally parked insurance may not cover any damage.)
I empty the car of anything of any value including radar detector, GPS NAV unit, any suitcases, laptop cases, anything that might tempt someone to smash a window to grab something out of the car.
Then I lock the car.
'course I avoid the seedier motels and hotels that obviously cater to, well, people I would prefer not to have as neighbors even if only for one night.
Manually lock the steering. Close the drivers door. One push on the key button. If no horn beep. It's locked and loaded. Other than a fish line from the car to your big toe there's nothing more you need. haha.

But honestly, NOBODY will steal an aged German car on the whim. The immobilizer alone is problematic, cars are rare and hard to part out quickly, and it is much easier to steal a civic to turn a profit.
You will not save yourself from vandalism. Unless you live in the bubble, and your car never leaves you sight **** will happen.
Yup. Sorry guys, but a $5k Integra is more appealing to thieves. Easier to sell off the parts on Craigslist, more common and harder to trace, easier to steal. Except for worries about some variety of assclown keying my car I sleep just fine with it outside a quality hotel, of course observing the common sense theft prevention measures mentioned previously.
In the last 5 months at least 3 993s have been stolen in Orange Co. CA & it's 40 miles north of SanDiego & Mexico.
I normally park with the front wheels turned to full lock to make it more difficult for someone to tow the car & discourage anyone from walking by the car too close. If possible never go anywhere that requires valet parking only!
Source?
And did you compare those numbers to the rest of the U.S.?
I was born and raised in Orange County, and currently reside In San Diego.
I feel much safer here than I would in, say, Detroit MI.
Actually wouldn't surprise me to see peeps from Mexico steal the 993's as there rare many VW bugs and Nissan Sentra's flooding Mexico. You could see body parts, engines swapped and even grafted onto Sentra's wanting to be Porsches. The 993 Air-cooled motors would make easier swaps into the VW Beetle chassis.
I think rbc is driving his new 996 home to Florida after flying to Detroit to pick it up, so taking a different car ain't an option.
Rbc, enjoy the trip. Fly outs, drive homes are always an adventure. Don't worry about all the things that could go wrong or you'll drive yourself Krazy, if you know what I mean.
KC att and all thanks for your replies, some were almost funny!
I am headed to the cold North tomorrow and looking forward to my new car and trip back to the Keys even though it is a frigid 70 deg. here right now.

lock it and have a hot young blond keep you UP all night....if done right you will ask ...what car who cares.dudes.....its a car. if it gets taken it is an excuse for a new car
I took mine on a trip last month and was worried about the same stuff. it was the first time mine spent the night out of the garage. I just reminded myself that it's insured and park it where it won't get door dinged. I did end up with a sweet spot next to the main entrance to the hotel though, so that helped!
