Apparently, the 'memory' is stored within the motor assembly so the only way many people have fixed it was to replace the motor @ over $400!!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my sunroof switch started acting up recently. It'll open to vent mode but then won't close. I can't get it to go the other direction to close vent mode or open all the way unless I re-train it every time I start the car. I found plenty of threads where other folks have had similar problems. Apparently, the 'memory' is stored within the motor assembly so the only way many people have fixed it was to replace the motor @ over $400!! I just can't bring myself to spend that much money to fix such a seemingly small problem Just wanted to see if anyone had attempted to repair the motor or the memory without replacing the whole thing?

POST 2Original post

not 100% sure but dealer can "recalibrate' the sunroof. unless the motor itself is toast

POST 3Original post

I had that problem two years ago, and bought a replacement motor from a local Porsche dismantler ($95). That motor lasted 6 months and then took a dump Bought another used replacement motor from a fellow RL'er ($50) and it has lasted over a year and a half and still running strong. It is a DIY project done in an hour

POST 4Original post

I had to replace my motor a few yrs back, tried to recalibrate it 3 times but wouldn't work right for long.
