Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

For 996 usage only, for tires that you personally have run only, list the tires you have used for track and rate them on performance (lap time), wear (# of sessions/laps), and damage resistance (how often did you have to throw away an otherwise good tire due to chunking or similar issue).

I am considering Toyo R-888 (and a class change) to pursue top-10 time, or Yokohama Advan AD-07 to stay in street stock and improve.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been thinking (ok, obsessing) about what tires to run at autocross next year. I've asked for advice from lots of people. I've gotten some really good feedback. Unfortunately, some of the feedback has been polar opposite regarding the same tire, often from 2 or more people I respect. I suspect part of this has to do with the type of car, size of wheel/tire, and possibly driving style.
*sigh*
So, how about this... For 996 usage only, for tires that you personally have run only, list the tires you have used for track and rate them on performance (lap time), wear (# of sessions/laps), and damage resistance (how often did you have to throw away an otherwise good tire due to chunking or similar issue).
My 'track' time is only autocross, it is nearly always a rough asphault parking lot, and the tracks are typically 70 seconds in length. For what it's worth, I compete currently against other stock '02+ 996s and 997s, not including the 997S. I have won my class every time I've entered for the last 2 years (except my first 2 events ever). I'm running ~75th percentile (ie, usually 24th overall out of 100).
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 - decent lap times, decent wear (~12 events), horrible damage resistance (shoulder chunking, 4 tires in one season)
Falken Azenis RT-615 - good lap times (-2 seconds from PS2), decent wear (~10 events), excellent damage resistance (no damage at all beyond nicely even wear)
I am considering Toyo R-888 (and a class change) to pursue top-10 time, or Yokohama Advan AD-07 to stay in street stock and improve. I'm trying to be competitive and cost conscious. Any recommendations appreciated!
For autox, stick with the RT-615s or the Bridgestone RE01s. The Toyos are a great DE tire, but wont warm up enough for a 70 sec run. The Falkens and Bridgestones are designed as ST class autox tires. The only tires better for autox would be dedicated slicks like Hoosiers.
Ultimately fast...Hoosier A6. Can't use them on the street though.
The Falken 615's are a solid choice but not the "it" tire anymore. but they're cheap and still great.
I havn't used the new Toyo R1R or Nitto's NT05...but they're both geared towards Ultimate performance use while still being a non R-compound.
