Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also, you need to be really careful around the coil packs as you run the risk of snapping the connector tabs that link the wires to the packs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Let me start by saying I am a long time DIY. Been working on my '82 SC for years and loving it. My wife drives '02 C2/Cab and was due for the 60K maintenance. She insisted that I already have a toy and she wants a "real mechanic" to work on her car....
For the 60K
all of the parts are marked up 20-30%... can live with that.
Labor charges 2.2 hrs for plugs? Seems long for a pro...
Brake fluid flush 1 hr? That hard to bleed brakes?
Coolant flush 1.5 hrs? "need to connect a "special vacuum" to get the fluid out of the long lines.."
Told me I need new brakes and rotors? "3mm left on front pads"...sensor hasn't gone off yet but ok. Also need new rotors. Asked how thick are they? Told "Don't know but there is a lip and they should be changed everytime the pads are changed on these cars or the brakes will squeek..."
Am I a cheap skate? Or do these charges seem reasonable?
If you are a successful long time DIY, then do it yourself. The plugs are actually a huge PITA to get to, at least two of them anyway. Of course they can beat these times but you're charged for book time not actual, which I think is resonable.
Porsches - they ain't cheap.
No, just smart with your money.
These cars are not the space shuttle, they can be worked on like any other car.
If you pull the exhaust cans off, the plugs are simple to do.
Having just done the 60k service (well most of it anyway) myself they are tough. Wish I had taken the mufflers off now. Intersting that the factory manual forgets to tell youto pull the heat shields off first. I definitely had to use the "L" shaped allen wrenches instead of my sockets given how hard it is to get to the rear plugs. Also, you need to be really careful around the coil packs as you run the risk of snapping the connector tabs that link the wires to the packs. Just be careful and take your time.
As for the coolant flush - yes there are a ton of lines that you cannot drain by simply opening up the drain plug. It is DIY but I would just pay them to do it. There is a guy on here that really knows all the steps but this is a no-brainer to have someone else do it in my book. I did.
Do the brakes yourself - if you havent done it before it is a good learning experience and as long as you follow the steps and torque everything properly it is a breeze. Get yourself a "Motive" bleeder for the fluid as well and follow directions. Easy and satisfying job.
<<<Tippy - nice valve - SHEESH!!!
