Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello: I have been going nuts with a noise like a caliper is dragging. When the car goes straight there is cyclical (hrss...hrss...hrss) a noise from the left side. The noise becomes continous when the car turns right and the left side of the suspension is compressed. It is not a strong noise and the brakes don't get hot. When that noise occurs, if I apply the brakes lightly it goes away for as long as the brakes are applied. Comes back when I let go. I have done the following: 1. New pads 2. New rotors 3. Rebuilt the calipers (new dust shields and o-rings, pistons were fine) 4. New wheel bearings No improvement. What is going on?? Has anybody experienced the same problem and having a solution or suggestion? Thanks Nick

POST 2Original post

Check the emergency brake shoe in the left back wheel. First see if there is a noise change when lightly applying the emergency brake when the noise occurs.

POST 3Original post

not sure if this will help but check the metal deflector plate. if it somehow it became bent/deformed it can drag on the rotor.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tried the parking brake and is not the problem. The deflector plate crlears the rotor easily. I am starting to think that maybe it is the brake booster or the master cylinder??

POST 5Original post

Did you check the caliper pins? You might need new ones.
