Suggestion

I have not taken that part off, but after checking the PET diagrams, it "appears" that you have to remove the coat hook (#20 in the 1st diagram), which should just pop off, and remove the bolt (#12) under the coat hook which will allow you to remove the entire B pillar cover from the top (by the coat hook) to the door jam.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've searched & searched & searched and come up blank. I am installing a harness bar and need to remove the seat belt mount on the B pillar (the one that slides up and down). Popping off the outer plastic cover was easy enough but I just can't figure out a way to get the metal/plastic piece off that is covering the bolt. What am I missing here? This is on a '01 C4 coupe if that makes a difference.

POST 2Original post

Attached are two PET diagrams. The 1st shows the "outer" part of the B pillar and the 2nd shows the "inner" part of the B pillar showing the seat belt slider #6 in the 2nd diagram). It may not that simple. However, maybe you can figure it out using the two diagrams as a reference. Hope this helps.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not looking at the car right now but I am 99.9% sure there is no coat hook on the B pillar? It also looks like the piece I'm trying to remove isn't even pictured. So, basically, you've been absolutely no help mate . I do appreciate the effort though .

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I swear: I'm about this far --> <-- from taking a Dremel or a Sawzall to the damn thing!

POST 6Original post

UFO, I got to the same point and gave up. The harness bar is sitting on the bench. Any luck on your side?

Nope. I was, however, wrong again in *** uming there was no clothes hook there as there is. From what I could tell, before the car went and sat at the service shop indefinitely, it seems the whole B pillar plastic needs to be removed as gota911 suggested. I think this also entails removing the rear speakers and rear plastic which is not as easy a job as I had hoped.

POST 8Original post

There is just one hex bolt under the b-piller cover, just remove it. However the side panel needs to come off to remove the seat belt.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
