Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My Dad got some Carrera Classics for his 996 but I think there is an issue. There is a small gap between the outer edge of the wheel and tire. He is running 265/35/18 on the rear. Does anyone have any pics of their Carrera Classics? I'm looking for pics of the gap(if any) between the outer edge of the wheel and tire. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Could you post a photo of this for better diagnosis? It might be possible that what you are seeing is due to a feature on the tire itself. I have the Conti's on mine and it says "rimsaver" right on the tire next to this feature. It is an abrupt rise in the sidewall very close to the rim. It does leave what appears to be an abnormal "gap" betwen the tire and rim.

POST 3Original post

It could also be the tire size causing this. The 265 is the narrowest tire you can put on a 10" wide wheel. The optimal wheel width for a 265 tire is 9.5" so the tire is slightly undersized for the wheel. As aviatorX mentioned above, it could also be the "rimsaver" feature on the tire, which is there to help protect against mild curb rash.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will take pics in the next couple of days. I don't think these are 'rimsavers' feature that you guys are referring to. Thanks for the help guys.
