Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace screen name' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace screen name' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Now with that said, for some reason getting the sig pic to load will not work if you try to use the Option 1 "slot" to enter the Internet location of your pic.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've searched all over and can't figure out how to create a signature. The FAQ section says it is in the Edit Profile area, but I can't find it. Do I have to be a paying member? Am I blind?
If you do not have the option of 'Edit Signature' then no you cannot have one.
So I believe you are correct that you must be a paying member.
I never noticed when I started on this forum because I became a paying member immediately and that option has always been there.
Also, this site is
excellent
. If you own a Porsche, it's virtually guaranteed that you'll recoup the cost of membership in the first month of ownership. If you don't own one yet, you'll get it back when you buy one because you'll know so much more.
CP
The above is true, but by being on this site you will learn about all kinds of mods to do to your car. So your $18 membership for one year ($34 for two years) will end up costing you thousands of dollars in mods!
msweeney - if you decide to become a Member ( and I hope you do) and have trouble getting your sig pic set up, PM me and I'll give you an alternate way to get it set up.
BTW - I have been meaning to ask about your Screen Name. Does it stand for
M Sweeney
or
Ms Weeney
?
Hey, that's why I was warning msweeney! Welcome to Rennlist!
I sure hope you can get your engine situation worked out. If yo do, I also hope you'll give your car a "second chance" so to speak. I just LOVE mine!
You guys absolutely
suck
at recruitment.
Don't listen to them. It's all good. There's nothing to buy. There's no obligation. You can cancel at any time. And you don't have to read the FS forums.
Sheesh.
Now where's my wallet?
Boy, that post got more responses that I thought I'd get.
And yes, It's M Sweeney, not ms weeney. Wow, I've never heard that one before...except every year throughout elementary school.
Don't worry about trying to recruit me, I'm already sold. You guys really helped me pick out my car, and now you're helping me enjoy it even more. Plus, I have lots of mod ideas and I already spent yesterday afternoon working on my sig rather than working. Gotta love Photoshop!
Maybe I'll have to change my screen name. I wasn't feeling too creative when I signed up...
Alright. As you may have noticed I'm now a Rennlist Member! I have access to updating my Sig, but for the life of me I can't upload the pic! I've resized it 10 times. It's small enough, but it tells me it can't save the file. I had it at 15k and I got a message saying it was 20k and too big. What's up with that? So I finally get it to 11k and now it says it can't save it. I consider myself to be pretty computer savvy, but I can't figure this out for some reason. WTF?
It might be giving you a bogus error message and the physical dimensions are too big. The image can't exceed 500 X 100 according to the rules (unless you host it yourself and then I guess any thing's fair game).
Yeah, I saw that. I resized it to 98 pixels wide and only 10k and it still won't download. The pic is starting to lose it quality (and ultimate coolness). Hmmm.
Well, it seems the best answer is to host it yourself. I understand that not everybody has their own host but you could use a free service like my mate's site:

M (BTW, that's a strange first name)
Are you attempting to use
Option 1
- Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website or
Option 2
- Upload Image From Your Computer. If you are trying Option 2, the site is very picky on the size and dimensions of the pic.
I suggest you Option 1. Now with that said, for some reason getting the sig pic to load will not work if you try to use the Option 1 "slot" to enter the Internet location of your pic. But there is another, actually easier way to do it.
The “trick” to getting a
web hosted pic
into your sig is to copy the URL location into the TEXT box in the Sig. Then put at the end of the string. It should look something like this (but without the spaces).

Rennlist will also “host” your pics. You can upload a pic to Rennlist by doing the following:
1. In the top right hand corner of your screen click on Upload Photo
2. Then log on to Rennlist Member area by entering your Rennlist #, last name, and zip
3. The next screen will have a Click here to upload a photo banner. Click on that.
4. Click on Browse to locate the pic on your PC
5. Click on Upload File button.
6. MAKE SURE you copy the URL string so you know where the epic is stored.
Go back to the Edit Signature option and copy the URL string into the
TEXT SECTION
.
Now add after the string.
Click on Preview Sig and if it looks OK, then Save your changes.
If you have any questions, PM me or post it here.
Hope this helps,
Tim
Best bet is to host it elsewhere. I tried option 1 with mine and kept reducing the quality in Photoshop until the picture wasn't even worth posting and it was still too large for even Option 1...forget option 2 as it's nearly useless.
photobucket has always worked well for me for free hosting.
