Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's too bad it it's not a straight "plug & play" to replace a 3.4 L engine so UFO007 could get it.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 3.4 l engine so ufo007 could get it' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 3.4 l engine so ufo007 could get it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. the big pain in the rectum would be installing e-gas and changing ur gas pedal and replacing the throttle cable with the sensor or watever.

Egas has little to do with the difficulty of putting a later 7.8 DME run engine into an earlier car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hmmmm, I could put the 3.8 in the 996, drop the 3.6 in the Boxster, and sell the 2.7.....
Or...just drop the 3.8 in the Boxster and create a track sleeper......
To he quite honest, I don't know what it would require. However, I do know that it is not a simple plug & play swap. I think I recall seeing that someone here (996 Forum) is actually installing a 3.8L engine in his 996.
There is a post here somewhere, damned if I can find it. Something about the engine control electronics / computer which is the same on the 3.6 / 3.8, but not on the 3.4.
ECU, wiring harness for the engine, engine (and associated bits like intake and intake manifold). the big pain in the rectum would be installing e-gas and changing ur gas pedal and replacing the throttle cable with the sensor or watever.
JimB did it on his race car, but he races in a spec series. Totally not worth it for a street car unless you're mechanically inclined enuff 2 do it in your backyard with some buddy's and a 6-pack IMHO.
Egas has little to do with the difficulty of putting a later 7.8 DME run engine into an earlier car. Take a look at my posts over on Renntech and you will get an idea of what it takes.

Yes, but you don't have variocam plus. I'm totally guessing, but I'd think it would probably be easier to make a 997S ecu work with your car rather than trying to get your ecu to manage the 3.8
