Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

While waiting I used metal polish on the exhaust tips and cleaned the interior (wifey's damn coffee).

I've been really careful not to get swirl marks (never let the dealer wash, clean wash mitt, clean micro-fiber towels, etc.) and only have a few in the hood.

I've been using Clay Magic on my Porsches for years.

It's not hard at all, just use lots of lube and keep folding it over.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just finished a variation of OE's formula.
1. Washed her with Dawn.
2. Gave her the clay bar.
3. Rubbed in some 3M Hand Glaze.
4. Buffed it out, then waited 2 hours and buffed it again.
5. While waiting I used metal polish on the exhaust tips and cleaned the interior (wifey's damn coffee).
6. Applied Rejex, including windows, exhaust tips, and rims, then let it cure overnight.
7. Gave it another coat and let it cure.
Got a break in the sprinkles to nab some pics. Keep in mind, it's overcast and the sun is setting.
I'll try and get some pics when it's sunny.
Lapis with Savanna is my favorite on the newer 996. If you need a sunny day we've got some to spare. We love the Puget area also and get there once a year, with the necessary gore-tex coat and hat.
Thanks for the compliments guys.
The swirl mark remover is the step that I left out of OE's formula. I don't have any swirl mark remover is the only reason. I've been really careful not to get swirl marks (never let the dealer wash, clean wash mitt, clean micro-fiber towels, etc.) and only have a few in the hood. I'm planning on tackling those in the fall though. I did everything by hand. I've had bad luck w/polishers (no skillz) and fear I'd do more harm then good. It was the first time I used a clay bar and it did pull a lot of stuff out of the paint, especially in the front bumper area.
It's amazing how much gunk builds up on your paint that washing doesn't remove. Clay Magic used to come with a plastic glove, and to demonstrate it's effectiveness, they suggested putting the glove on and gently sliding it over the surface of your freshly washed car, before and after claying. You can replicate this with your hand in a zip lock bag. I also find that wax application/removal is much easier after claying.
Can someone explain the "clay bar" to me? I've never seen it nor done it... What is it? Where do you get it? How do you do it?
I am interested in the Rejex treatment and everyone keeps mentioning the clay bar application...
I've been using Clay Magic on my Porsches for years. I use it every six months to remove the gunk that builds up on the paint that normal washing doesn't remove. Wash & dry your car, clay, then wax. It leaves the surface silky smooth. You can get it here:

This is an interesting how-to article:

You'll be amazed what the claybar will do to your paint. It will feel like glass. One word of caution - don't drop it. If you do, throw it away as it will pick up little pieces of dirt/rocks that you don't want to rub into your paint.
4 RMS leaks, that sounds like a new engine.

Poursha and OE urged me to try the clay bar. I was scared to before. It's not hard at all, just use lots of lube and keep folding it over.
Finally got some sun.
Great view, Rob. The Bellingham view is nice as well...
Actually, that was my wife's first choice in color. That blue is amazing up close and personal. We never really found the right car to buy in that color, but I was hesitant as we have a lot of things here weather-wise to make your car look dirty real fast and in a hurry. I chose the Mirage color for that reason. It doesn't mean we still don't just love that blue, though...
