Suggestion

I don't think it is a good idea to just change the springs as I believe that the springs and shocks are made to work in unison.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just want my car to lower by an inch or so... Which is the best option? Can I just change the springs???

POST 2Original post

I did. H&S work great on my 02 coupe. You need to get the alignment done, caster, camber, etc. I had it all dialed in, and I like it. Lowered my car about an inch all around. Handles much crisper, especially at higher speeds, front end seems more stable and not so "flighty" as before. Only negative is that OEM shocks obviously are not calibrated for the shorter springs, so you get a bit of a bumpy ride on rough roads. Would not recommend for a daily driver. My car is used for weekends, long trips, track events. Economically it's great, but if you want to spend more $, coil overs, M30, is the way to go.

POST 3Original post

My X-74's lowered the car 1 1/2 inches in the front and 1 inch in the rear. I don't think it is a good idea to just change the springs as I believe that the springs and shocks are made to work in unison.
