Its just pathetic at this point - 8 weeks and running....the worst part is that they charge by credit card back in August so I've already paid for everything!!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had ordered a Carrera Aero wing (aftermarket) for my 01 Cab from Departstop during the second week of August. The painted wing finally arrived last week.....5 weeks later...and it arrived without the brake light and wire harness to turn off the dash light. I called Departstop that day...said they would get it next day aired to me.....so now its a week later (week 6), still don't have the light or harness and I've called every day with different answers each time. Its frustrating because without the owner being there (Dayton is in Germany)), nobody can tell me if the items shipped/not shipped/if its in stock/or even what the OEM Porsche part # is!!! A little embarrassing since call they do is sell Porsche stuff!!! I'm at the point where I may just order the part myself just so I don't need to even think about them anymore......does anyone know what the part number is for the Carrera Aero wing wiring kit? I should include the brake light, and a wire harness... BTW - The painted wing looks great...but its hard to recommend them with their lack of customer service and product knowledge!!! Thanks, Will

POST 2Original post

Will - Sorry to hear about your customer service problems. Once you get the wing installed, please post pics. I would love to see it.

POST 3Original post

That is indeed too bad, having dealt with Dayton and Departstop on many occasions, this is terrible. I hope it gets settled for you soon.

POST 4Original post

If you are putting the Cup Aerokit rear spoiler on then there is no brake light on the spoiler - only the brake light under the rear window. Spoiler Harness

POST 5Original post

I'm not making any excuses for your bad experience, but now that I've been on both sides of the fence ,so to speak, I feel bad for both parties. None of us tuners/part places want to offer you guys bad service, but sometimes stuff happens and it can't be helped. Now if it happens over and over then that's bad. Sucks that it happens, but it does to everyone. It's good to hear the bad with the good. That's the only way to improve. Thanks for sharing your experience with them.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Loren - This is the wing that I purchased...just an aftermarket one (link below). I believe there is a kit that has a wire harness and a brake light together.... I looked at the link you supplied....it was a little confusing...not sure if I need part# 996 612 070 04 or 996 612 070 51 ?? Thanks, Will http://www.departstop.com/996exterior.htm

POST 7Original post

ya, they are mess without dayton, but even when he was there i got delays. 2 week delivery turned to 5 weeks plus they forgot to send all the parts; they forgot to send the wing out with the bumper and skirts, missing wiring harness for the rear wing, front fender lip and hardware was missing. what a mess. oh ya my aerokit 1 wing came cracked too. he said he would comp me some dough. still haven't seen any refunded cash in my acct. i think it's time to give him a call. (my rant over)

POST 8Original post

Well, thanks for not beating me up too bad guys....I will make things right, I havent been in this business 18 years to drop the ball now! Just sometimes when Porsche is the only source for something we are subject to their abilities.... Cheers Dayton

POST 9Original post

Dayton, I understand now....Sometimes when you order parts from your vendors you're at their mercy. I've learned being on the other side.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, the saga continues.....talked to Dayton this week...he was pretty sure I would get the harness by the end of this week....was hoping it was waiting for me when I got home....no such luck!!! Going on to week 7..... (5 weeks for the wing...2 weeks (so far) for the harness) I did check with Suncoast and the brake light/harness is about $170!!! ouch! I'll have to give Dayton another call on Monday morning....and see if anything turns up next week!

POST 11Original post

Will, I was looking into ordering the Carrera Aero wing from Departstop also. I was wondering if you had received the harness yet or are you still waiting? If you finished the install could you post a pic? Just curious because if I was to order from Departstop now, I would probably only receive the wing by the time I'm ready to garage the car for the winter... Did you check out any other companies to order the wing from?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope...still have not received the harness or light....I bug Dayton every other day or so and he says they are still waiting for the correct parts from Porsche. Its just pathetic at this point - 8 weeks and running....the worst part is that they charge by credit card back in August so I've already paid for everything!! When (or should I say if) I get the harness and put the wing on, I'll definitely post some pics. Hopefully it will also be before I have to put the car away for the winter!!! More to come....

POST 13Original post

Hate to jump on this lil rant but I will too. I purchased a Porsche item from them on Ebay. Immediately paid for the item and shipping. I never received the item. A couple of weeks later I emailed them (and even requested a tracking number so I could find out what hapened) and was told it was shipped, and they'd ship another, but there was no tracking information. A couple of weeks later I emailed again that I didn't receive the item and they said they'd mail it again, but no tracking details. In the mean time I had several other items delivered, three from Ebay vendors, without issue. I finally gave up in frustration and I won't do business with them again. Sad, but true, especially now that I'm shopping for rear wings...

POST 15Original post

Looks like we are finally getting somewhere with Porsche today on the wings....Should have the correct conectors this afternoon.....cross fingers! Cheers Dayton

POST 16Original post

departstop on Ebay? If so, it was y'all. Sorry, shouldn't have thread-crap here. Just saw the name and remembered this bad transaction (low $ amount, just frustrating as it was a gift). If not, apologies and I will gladly edit my posts.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dayton - I got my fingers crossed that you'll get in all the parts needed so that I can install the wing!! Hopefully if you get it today, you can overnite it so that I'll have it on Saturday...its raining this weekend in MA, so it would be a great weekend to put it on!! Thanks for the update....

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a quick update on my never ending quest for a wire harness from Departstop - another 3 weeks have passed and still no wire harness. In fact today I was talking to Dayton and I guess he never shipped me the third brake light that is supposed to go into the wing!!! What more can go wrong with this purchase!! He says there are another 10+ folks waiting on the wire harness also (somehow I feel like I'm the only one!) Dayton says 2 more business days and he'll have harnesses.....

POST 19Original post

I ordered mine from Porsche , was here in 2 days, and it was cheap!! it cost like $50.00 USD. Man get your damm wing on! its almost winter!

POST 20Original post

I've had nothing but a great experience with Dayton as I have purchased quite a bit from him. Regards, Mississippi

POST 21Original post

I replaced my wing with Misha's GT2 wing, I went to my local porsche dealer ordered the harness it was $27 and I received it in two days. Kirby has a DIY on how to bypass the switch.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the information guys - there is a third brake light in the wing that I actually do not have yet - but I'm not sure if that connector is the same as the oem Porshce third light connector. If it is, Kirby has given me the harness I need... I think Dayton is trying to send the harness and the physical third brake light together....we'll see what happens next week!

POST 23Original post

I don't get it. I ordered that same wing from brandywine porsche in pa for $1400. Drove over and picked it up. All the parts(harness, light, bulbs etc) were in the sealed box. Am I missing something? Wasn't all the stuff in the box? Was this used or something? I hope you did not pay the $2750 or so posted on the site. Wow!

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So this week Dayton sent me the third brake light and a harness (though he still hasn't figured it out) but he thought he'd let me see what he's been challenged with. Not to beat these guys up too much, but they sent the package to an address of mine from 2 years ago (don't even know how they got that address - hasn't been that long since they sent me the wing!) - tracked it down Sat. having to contact the person how purchased by previous place.....and with the help of Kirby's site on how to install a fixed wing I now have it installed. I'm sure I wasn' the only thing Dayton was working on over the last 3 months, but it just came down to the fact that the Porche factory harness 996-612-070-04 has a different connector for the new third brake light (the wing isn't OEM its a replica). So I just cut the harness off, took apart the third brake light, and soldered the + and - wires directly to the unit. It wasn't rocket science - just needed a volt meter to know which was the + and the -. Then got took some silicone to seal up the wires going into the brake light. Can't believe I waited 3 months for something that could be figured out in about an hour! Everything works great - the spoiler dash light doesn't come on when driving and the new brake light works! Special thanks to 969 motorsports who helped answer alot of questions even though the wing didn't come from them. Now thats customer service!!!! Last thing is to get the third brake light "plug" for the body of the car. Anyone know that part # for that and if it comes painted? As promised, here are the long awaited pics. Like I said before the paint and the wings are pretty nice, but with the customer service and the wait, can't say I'd recommend going thru what I did!

POST 26Original post

FYI - i have for sale a MINT condition carrera wing already attached and comes with the decklid with all necessary electronics all wired up(harness & 3rd brake light). it came on the car from the factory painted black. it is in the classifieds or you can email me for details/pics i took it off after a year and placed the GT3 wing on. since mine comes with the decklid already attached, you can just take off your current decklid and bolt on the new one & voila!!! i suggest keeping your old decklid so you can retransplant it once you sell your car and recoup the money from this wind/spoiler. it'll practically be free!

POST 27Original post

Looks great now that it is done. Now get the side skirts.

POST 28Original post

Lizard, How much for the spoiler? My neighbor has a 911 and might be interested.

POST 29Original post

i'm asking $1200 for everything (spoiler, decklid, 3rd brake light, wiring harness)
