Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I just purchased a 1999 996 with new clutch and all of the IMS RMS updates, but I have noticed that once in a while during take off the clutch doesnt engage as crisp as it should always do. This tends to cause me to rev it a bit or it could stall, and that's when I hear this awful squawk from the rear of the car. I'm assuming that I have a glazed clutch and that the PO forgot about the break in period. This is only an assumption, but what do you guys think? I told the PO about the possible damage to the clutch, and he was real cool and is willing to take care of the cost to replace it. I'm gonna take it in to my mechanic too, but I want to get your guys opinions before I ask my mechanic to bring the transaxle down. Here's a video of a 997 owner with the same noise. Just click on the link above the little screen if you cant see the video, it'll open up through youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScoTnXhBOlc

If the PO says he will pay for the repair/replacement etc then take it in and get it fixed. End of story. By the way I hope you didn't seal the deal before the PO aggreed to the deal on the repair did you?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's going in to see my mechanic, but I wanna know if anyone hear recognizes this noise I'm hearing upon clutch engagement. Yes. it's a sealed deal with clutch replacement $$$ already factored into the price. I'm not stressing out but I'm definitely curious about what you guys think. I'd hate bring it in, drop the tranny, only to find out the clutch disks are okay. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found a leak at the clutch pedal, inside the cabin. I think that this could be part of or the problem. I ordered a new slave, so I hope that this is my problem.
