With traffic as light as it was we ran 85-100mph on and off for the better part of an hour and a half before traffic started to pick up and we all backed off and went our way with a big smile, I know I did.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I'd just like to thank David, TRT41, for scoping out the car for me and some other info that helped me on my way!! Thanks David!
To all the other members who assisted me in my quest I owe all of you a big thanks.
I flew into Dallas TX to pick her up on Friday at Park Place Porsche, who I cant say enough good things about, and started my 1559 mile journey to her new home in PA about 5PM. My plan was to make it to Little Rock for the night but I ran out of gas by Texarkana. I was on the move since 5:30AM and decided to call it a night.
After a good nights sleep, a warm shower, a quick breakfast, I filled the tank jumped on I30 and was on my way. It was a nice day for traveling, plenty of sun and not much traffic and what was there were moving nicely. When I got into Tennessee that changed, the average speed was noticeably faster - more like 85 now. After a while I spied an Arctic Silver Cayman S coming up the left lane, a few cars behind him was a silver BMW M series Z4 coupe and they were out to play so, feeling comfortable after a few hundred miles in the car, I joined them! With traffic as light as it was we ran 85-100mph on and off for the better part of an hour and a half before traffic started to pick up and we all backed off and went our way with a big smile, I know I did. I kept driving till I hit Bristol and after almost 800 miles I was ready to pack it in. and it was time to move the clocks forward and lose and hour.
With about 550 miles to go, I hit the road and planned to be home for dinner. Most of the day was just nice cruising, with the exception being 2 trucks coming to a hill, the 2nd one pulls out to pass the other, just slowing everyone else. Why do they need to always try and pass going uphill???? In spite of them I made it home at 5:15.
Misc. Observation
I was amazed at how many long sections, 100-200+ feet at a time, of guard rail were just peeled back like a banana and the posts that hold them bent over like it was a wooden pickets fence.

On driving the car
I must have gotten a real frisky one, she loves to run!!
Im amazed that it was able to return 24.8 mpg over 1569 miles with an average moving speed of 70.3 mph and a high of 128.3 mph on an open stretch in TN.
It feels as solid at 65 as it does in triple digits
Its been an absolute blast to drive, but it requires a lot of self-control to keep it at legal or close to legal speeds.
Heres a few pics for now, Ill post some more when I clean her up.
Great write up!! Glad you had a blast. How comfortable were the seats? I haven't driven more than two hours in one shot so just curious as you seemed planted in the seat for a few days.
They were great, I have back issues from a car accident, and used the seat heater like a heating pad and I did OK. I did stop and give myself a chance to get out, stretch and walk around for 10-15 minutes.
Congratulations, I am very jealous, great car and great story! I just bought mine but don't have the time to go out and get it (she's in Scottsdale, AZ, I'm in Tampa, FL). I did it for my S4 and loved the trip, wouldn't have traded it for anything. But with work, wife, and kids, had to put mine on a hauler...she's en route, and I can't wait!
Congrats on the 996 partsguy. Park Place is a very good dealer. We went to the 991 launch party there and it was an amazing event. I enjoyed reading about your trip.
Congrats! The Article silver interior bits add a subtle hint to the interior color without being too flashy. I see plenty of potential mods for the exterior. You basically have a MKII with MKI Aero side skirts, which were Available as an option. One of the mods I would do would be to look into a nicer front bumper(Aero or C4S) if you are so inclined. Anyway, it is a slippery slope, so take extreme caution as you go about your merry way.
Cheers, Ed
They just list them as Flared Rocker Panels under Exclusive Options. As an added bonus, I found the original window sticker folded neatly in with the manuals. I looks like it has never been out since it was put there. I also found an unopened copy of the Bose Music CD that came with it as well. No idea what's on it, but I guess I'll leave it how I found it.
As far as the front bumper goes, I've not spent much time on it. Most of my time was spent trying to find the right car. I like subtle mods that make you look twice - in a good way. It is something I'll look at now I have the car.
It was odd, how i had so many small errands to do today.......
