Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had my C2 in for winterizing, and the tech let me know that they noticed the plastic where the CAI fits into the intake was getting brittle from heat. They were concerned it might start to break up and bits would get ingested. The replacement part was cheap, $60 or so. There were, at least at one time, several guys here who had done this mod. May be worth a look-see.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, no I'm a pay-someone-else-to-do-it guy when it comes to the car...

POST 4Original post

Your recent post suggests that you didn't trade up to a turbo or sell your C2...yet. Still pondering?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for asking. Nah, I gave her a reprieve. I found the arguments in favour of keeping it persuasive. Pretty much every option ended me up with less car for more money, and my mechanic looked at my like I'd been smoking crack when I floated the idea there. The one thing I'll say for this car that I wouldn't have said about any of my BMWs is that it's fun at any speed. Even dry cleaning speed. The turbo is still on my radar for someday, though

POST 6Original post

Are you talking about where the intake mates to the deck lid or where the intake tube mates to the throttle body?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Where it meets the throttle body. It's probably not a cause for alarm for most people. My car gets a ton of city use in the summer. Gets hot in there.

I thought that is silicon, the tube is metal.... anything plastic has to go through the filter.... no?

POST 10Original post

The coupling is silicone, the tube is (was) metal, which is why I was questioning what would become brittle with heat.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It was what you're calling the coupling, I imagine. Maybe they weren't always made of silicone. Mine's a few years old. Anyway, FWIW.
