Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And am considering selling it. Test drove it and two days later wrote a check. Problem is I want to use it as a DD but it is too nice, I cannot get my mind around using it all the time. I have waxed it twice and Lexol'd the interior. It rained the other day, I couldn't bring myself to drive it. I need help! I really like the car, love driving it. Oh yeah, it is a Lapis Blue 2001 C4 Cab w/hardtop and w/18K miles, nav, full leather, wheels, power seats and Tiptronic. I think there is one stone chip on the passenger side mirror otherwise pretty flawess inside and out. BTW, the dogs are kinda inherited, MIL went into assisted living and couldn't keep 'em, lucky me.

POST 2Original post

yeah, I know what you mean...but drive it, or else she'll fall apart... welcome to renn

POST 3Original post

Congratulations, sharp looking car! It is a car and is meant to be driven, so the reluctance to drive will get a bit better in time. If it gets too bad, get something inexpensive for a DD. Best of luck!

POST 4Original post

Congrats on the new P-Car, it looks excellent. Go drive the sh** out of it and be happy. It sounds like you have some buyer remorse. I wouldn't be so quick to sell it. Keep it for awile and see how it goes. I'll bet soon you will not be able to keep yourself from driving it.

POST 5Original post

Congrats and Welcome, I have been toying with the idea of picking up a less valuable car as a DD, but I think the only way I survive my commute to and from work, is knowing my Porsche awaits......

POST 6Original post

DRIVE IT DRIVE IT DRIVE IT!!!! Great car don't be afraid!!! I looks good on you!

POST 7Original post

Keep it and get a beater for those rainy days. I have a Boxster and a C4S and never drive them in the rain if I can help it. It's a good feeling to know they are tucked cozy in the garage while you are sloshing around in yourr grocery getter. Becides IMO if you don't drive it every day you will enjoy it more when you do. Some will argue this however.

POST 8Original post

Did you just call the boxster a beater? Another fine piece of craftsmanship IMO!

POST 9Original post

Keep it and drive it everyday in good health. The ones that sit are the ones that leak oil and have problems. Other things I suggest along the same line. Use your fine crystal glasses at least once a week. Eat off of your fine china once a month. Wear your best shoes once a month Wear you best watch a few times a week. Drink champagne for no reason at all. Life it too short to keep you nice things put away for "the right moment". Enjoy what you have while you have it. Besides you can't take it with you. Welcome to Rennlist

POST 11Original post

Nice looking car and like the others said....drive it. I thought I would only drive mine on the weekends, but I find myself making excuses now to drive it as often as possible. Update: my 420 post

POST 12Original post

It's a car - it was meant to be driven. I drive mine in the rain, snow (once did a 360 on the garden state parkway - yikes. It was before the snow tires) and pretty much all other conditions. Still looks great. And rock chip marks add personality. By the way, I find this is true of many things. I buy 1st growth bordeaux...and drink 'em (when they are ready)! Expensive suits and ties...and wear them! I reject the whole put-plastic-covers-on-the-furniture premise. The better things are there for you to enjoy, I think...

POST 13Original post

You gotta get over it!! My 996 is my DD and I love it in that capacity. I feel sorry for the guys that only drive their cars occasionally, putting only a few thousand miles per/year on it. How sad is that!! Instead you can enjoy the car rain or shine, summer or winter and have many more miles (and smiles) with the car than they will ever experience. Would you rather wake up knowing you were going to drive a 911 every day or a Camry or some other ordinary car?

POST 14Original post

It will depreciate either way so you might as well drive the heck out of it. I mean you wouldn't date a super model and not nail that every day because she was too pretty and you wanted to save her for the next guy would you? Get out and DRIVE! Time spent driving anything other than your 911 is time simply wasted.

POST 15Original post

Yep for me I love driving my 996, but I will not be driving it in the winter or any time it rains because I do not have too. I have a company vehicle that I use for work and everything for that car is paid by the company. I only drive the Porsche to customer sites when there is a good drive to be done (not stop and go traffic) or I need to show-off a little

POST 16Original post

Life is too short to waste your time driving something else when you have such a beautiful Porsche. Go enjoy it and drive it every chance you get. Even in heavy traffic, the tiptronic cars make great daily drivers.

POST 17Original post

I like your thought process in comparison to driving or not driving a car

POST 18Original post

Why do I have the feeling that you just want people to look at your pictures and say WOW NICE LOOKING CAR...YOU SHOULD BE DRIVING IT..........................WHY DID YOU GET AN AUTOMATIC?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the support. I bought it with every intention of driving it. I heartily agree the P-car designers designed it to be driven. It drove so well, that's why I bought it. Concerning the supermodel comparison, you are right, I wouldn't just wax her and let her sit in the garage(?) all clean and pretty, I'd take her out for a ride and exercise her the way she was designed to be exercised!! Again thanks, I think I'll go for I ride now.

POST 21Original post

The doctor is in! Come to papa....I feel your pain. That's a gorgeous cab BTW. Really, don't do what I do, because I'm a little nuts. Drive it!!

POST 22Original post

LOL...I knew it wouldn't be long until we saw you add to this post Phil G. Let him enjoy it and drive it OK

POST 23Original post

Yeah - what they all said- just think, would you rather put the chips in it or let the next guy do it?

POST 24Original post

dennish: I see from your first post that you are a lucky and healthy guy. If you had been near death - believe me, you wouldn't dare to make such a remark. Welcome.

POST 25Original post

As a friend of mine once said, "It's a car, not a doily!" Have fun!

POST 26Original post

Welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on getting the car! Very nice! Who are you saving the car for? Drive it like you stole it!

POST 27Original post

you know my biggest fear is not about driving the car, it's about park the car........ nice cab, enjoy it.

POST 31Original post

+1 agreed, parking the car and the a-holes around it.

POST 32Original post

Welcome! It'll only rot away in the garage. Remember, in the scheme of things, it's only a "car". But, if you drive the pi$$ out of it, you'll benefit from driving one of the greatest "cars" on the road. It'll make driving to the dentist or jury duty feel a whole lot better

POST 33Original post

I recently purchased my first p-car with the intention of making it my daily driver. It's a really nice clean low milage car and I have no problems driving it on a daily basis. And on the days I dont drive it to work, my wife does! These are beutiful cars and driving them is what it's all about. Another +1 on the parking issue.

POST 34Original post

nice.. congrats.. drive and enjoy it! happy motoring

POST 35Original post

Don't be afraid to drive your p-car. I use mine as my daily driver and do not give it a second thought. Rain or sunshine...When parking the car, I do admit that I try to park it where most do not. A car is just a car and these cars are meant to be driven....enjoy in good health.
