I have a fellow who says he has one that he says will work....but since my 99 uses the mechanical latch with a cable release and not the electronic release, I want to make sure he's selling me the right part.

I'm trying to find the part number for the front hood latch for a 99 C2. I have a fellow who says he has one that he says will work....but since my 99 uses the mechanical latch with a cable release and not the electronic release, I want to make sure he's selling me the right part. I think I chased it down...it's the 996-511-053-01 part number...but it's intersting that Pelican and the other parts houses show it superceded by the 02 (last) number....but the 02 version has the electronic solenoid rather than the manual latch release. I explained that there must be a number for the manual latch...but was told that it showed that all previous numbers had been superceded by the 02. So the hunt goes on....but for you guys with the 99 996...if you ever need a front trunk latch...don't get the 02 model.
