I continue to look for probably an '02 C2 with low mileage but will definitely be very happy with '03 if the price is right.

If you take a look at the after sales repair logs of 98/99 996's you'll see that they are very long.

I am thinking about getting a 02 or 03 996. So my friend is calling around to get some info and see what is available out there.
A Porsche salesman told my friend that why would I buy a 03 when a new model is coming out?
I am aware that 04 is available now/real soon. Does anyone know if there is a model change in the work, such as in 05 or later?
Is it true that there is *no difference* between 03 and 04?

No difference between MY03 and MY04, but its rumored that the model change will be at MY05. So get the MY02/MY03 now at change it for a MY06 997 later
Porsche tends to improve the cars considerably over the course of a model run. So buy now and then by the new model (997) once it's had a few years to mature. Problem solved
I got my 03 car 2 month ago and was debating the same thing. If you take a look at the after sales repair logs of 98/99 996's you'll see that they are very long. But so far 02/03 cars have very few TSB's and none of them apply to my particular configuration.
It will be 1 year and 4 month before the new model is on the road and another year for the bugs to be worked out. Your looking at a good 2 years a least before it's time to buy a 997. Also take into account that you'll probably have to wait another 6 to 8 month after those 2 years for your car to be delivered to you as new model's tend to get their order books full very quickly.

Porsche is releasing a 40th aniversery 911 C2 coupe. It will have many standard features not found on the C2, flared rockers, turbo front. 345hp, tightened up suspension with a modified differential for better handling, etc etc etc. Now the bomb---------list price $89k+
