Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Since I cannot easily install the LN bearing, I installed the IMS Guardian ( RABY ENGINE DEV).

The electronic oil level was showing one bar over max so checked the dipstick; as an estimate I would say that the oil level is about 1/2 to 1 pint over.

Before my purchase in 09, the engine had failed in my 03 C4S, and was replaced by Porsche, in 08, with the last iteration of the M96 engine, with the BIG bearing.

After doing this, you can slowly add oil(checking periodically) to bring the level to the full line.

Picked up this very clean 2003 C4S with 95,000 km (59,000 m) with FSH a couple of weeks ago.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Picked up this very clean 2003 C4S with 95,000 km (59,000 m) with FSH a couple of weeks ago. PPI revealed failed transmission carrier and stabiliser links and a slight leak from the tranny oil-pan; all now fixed. $24,000 well spent in my opinion.
The P Zeros were badly flatspotted but are now round again and very smooth at all speeds. Today was the first opportunity to take some pics.
Congratulations!! That was a great deal, car looks to be exceptionally clean. This will be a great car to compliment the Cayenne. Now it's time for a

Thanks for all the kind comments guys; she's a beaut! Fortunately cars in general over here are much cheaper than in the states.
After 3 years of insomnia waiting for the coolant pipes and cardan shaft in my 05 CTT to fail (they didn't) I need another dose of angst.
I spotted that in someone else's and am seriously considering as the ashtray and carrier are a bit scratched (one of the few defects) probably from a ring.
Now to check it out on some of my favourite CTT roads.
The electronic oil level was showing one bar over max so checked the dipstick; as an estimate I would say that the oil level is about 1/2 to 1 pint over. Would anyone consider draining this off?
On the plus side the car was last serviced about 3000 km ago and the oil is so clear that its difficult to see where the level actually is.

It adds some peace of mind.
I have spoken with mechanics at dealers and in private practice, and they consider this last bearing to be quite reliable. In fact, it rarely fails. In effect, it is the Gen I 997.
I track about 15 days per year, change the oil after 5 track days, and rarely get into 4th gear in city driving. Revs are higher.
I still have the occasional nightmare, but I rationalize that many of the horror stories are created to install fear and to sell the LN bearing kit. I certainly would have installed this part if I had the smaller bearing motor.
The 996 C4S is by far the most beautiful 911, though many still like the lumpy VW look of the air cooled models. ( I submit this ludicrous comment to irritate the lovers of the antiques!)
Enjoy the new car...it looks excellent!!!
In regards to the oil, personally I'd let it go but keep an eye on it. Most likely it is only slightly past the "full" level and the level will naturally/harmlessly reduce to the full mark with a bit of use.
If the high oil level really bothers you then I'd suggest removing the oil filter housing and dumping the oil in the filter housing(and then reinstall the filter and housing) to reduce the oil level. This will remove approximately 3/4 of a qt. of oil, which is a completely safe amount. After doing this, you can slowly add oil(checking periodically) to bring the level to the full line.
But again, I bet the current oil level is fine. Go enjoy your car!!!
My own experience of other cars would point me to this but i'm just seeking confirmation from more experienced owners of this marque. It is overfilled, but not to an extent that would bother me unduly on another brand.
Thanks for tour reply though.
Do as DreamCarrera suggested with the oil filter. Oh and your engine bay is tooooo clean. It makes me feel sick hahaha. Welcome and congrats it's a cracking looking car.
