Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have checked the fuses, power connection checked for tightness and corrosion.
Leading evidence: 'Check fuses, power connection' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuses, power connection' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have a mechanic I use for maintence although it is a trek to get there.

Any threads showing how to remove black tray(underside of engine lid) with motor, pumps, etc on it...as i removed screws and I do not know how to disconnect cylniders from wing?

I just don't know if I can repair the unit without the tech device to reset.

It hasn't come on since it was in for regular oil service, but the techs assure me the only thing they did on the decklid was replace the gas strut that hold it up, and i don't see how that could be related.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My fault spoiler light came on while driving. I have searched here 6speed and Renntech without finding specific ideas on a 996 carrera 4. Most fixws are on 996 tt's. I have checked the fuses, power connection checked for tightness and corrosion. Manual switch will not operate the unit, no noise of unit trying to work is noted clicks ,humming nothing.
Questions I have are once light has been tripped does it have to be reset using a remote tech device (cannot remember names s of these) ?? Any threads showing how to remove black tray(underside of engine lid) with motor, pumps, etc on it...as i removed screws and I do not know how to disconnect cylniders from wing? I found a used tray with parts on ebay from Oklahoma Foreign for $480.00 and felt this might be a fair fix.
Any assistence would be appreciated. I have a mechanic I use for maintence although it is a trek to get there. Lastly, I read micro switches can be problem ....again inside tray. I did not see any form of leakage from cylinders. I just don't know if I can repair the unit without the tech device to reset. Please advise.
This isn't going to be very helpful, but I'll share my experience anyway.
I had an intermittent spoiler fault light earlier in the fall. It would come on while driving, maybe 25% of the time. If you let the car sit for a few hours, it seemed to reset itself. Manual switch did still work, and the spoiler would deploy when the light went on (I assume as a safety feature).
It hasn't come on since it was in for regular oil service, but the techs assure me the only thing they did on the decklid was replace the gas strut that hold it up, and i don't see how that could be related. So it remains a bit of a mystery.
while I appreciate the information i am still at a loss as to how to remove the black tray holding the assembly. Screws are out although I cannot remove the screws holding the cylinders on each side. I see them though the grills yet surely this isn't the only to access these right?? I assume I can get them out yet putting back would seem very hard. Please note my wing will not go up or down so it is no help for access. Also, does anyone know about the fault light reset and must this be done even if I do replace the compontents in the black tray.
Sorry haven't been there yet, but IIRC I remember reading the light will "reset itself" or more accurately not light up if all the mechanics are working properly.
