Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have been accumulating the parts for the last week, so I'm now ready for the job. I must say that I was somewhat shocked to see how small the dreaded bearing actually is. I'll post the condition of the old one next week. Between the clutch master cylinder leaking, the clutch slipping, and travelling, I've been unable to drive it for weeks now. I can't wait to get it back on the road!

POST 3Original post

It sounds like YOU are doing the work. Specifically which parts are you replacing once you open up your Porsche? You must be excited to get started.

Didn't mean to imply that I was doing it personally. Way out of my comfort zone! I sourced the parts and my trusted indy is doing the install. He's doing: Clutch Pressure plate T/O bearing Pilot bearing Slave cylinder (just replaced the master a couple of weeks ago) The you know what bearing and flange Got the updated RMS in case mine's leaking, but will probably have him replace it anyway. How've you been, Ed? Like the avatar!!

POST 5Original post

Doing good Don. It felt like a yoga pants, assault rifle kinda week. Keep us posted on the project. My clutch is nearing replacement time.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will do! How are you liking the new 996?

POST 7Original post

Loving it!!! The ROW suspension is where its at.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Visited with my tech today and was there when the trans came out. The pressure plate failed, causing the slipping I was experiencing. Disc was worn, but not all the way. Typical seepage from the rear main and IMS flange. Clutch had definitely been replaced before. He was pulling the bearing this afternoon and going back with everything tomorrow. Hopefully it will be back in action tomorrow!
