Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

If you look at some of the really old posts, there were experienced aircraft pilots that also happened to own Porsches mention using the same kind of metal sensor on our cars before the XXX guardian actually came about.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

The IMS guardian came in handy after all..... http://articles.glendalenewspress.co...ionary-landing

POST 2Original post

If you look at some of the really old posts, there were experienced aircraft pilots that also happened to own Porsches mention using the same kind of metal sensor on our cars before the XXX guardian actually came about. It's been used in the aerospace industry for awhile now.

POST 3Original post

Back in my Coast Guard days, a "chip light" guaranteed an immediate diversion to the nearest Caribbean island to have it looked at. It usually took at least a weekend to be inspected. Life was hard.

POST 4Original post

The gardian was an adaptation of an existing technology.

Gator--Nice rig in your avatar. Sweet gun, too! What year is your Cherokee? Wish I could find one to rent. Just don't like 172's. TC

POST 6Original post

Jake has mentioned in the past he got the Guardian idea from the chip detector in helicopters during his days in the military working on these helicopters.

It's 76 Warrior II. I trained on the 172 but find the Piper to be more comfortable. 50 gal tanks also give me a longer range though useful loads are very similar.

^^^ This. Remember reading that as well.

POST 9Original post

It's nothing new to aviation.. It is very new to automotive applications and even the Nascar teams that I presented the technology too had generally never heard of it. Now you can find them in the rear axle, tranny and engines of some of those cars. Just like in the aviation application, the IMSG doesn't solve the problem, all it does is give an otherwise symptomless issue a symptom. It's up to the "pilot" to make the right call.

However we have the luxury of not falling from the sky but both pilots and drivers would probably shart themselves when they see the light regardless.

Been there as an aircrew man on a CH46... More than once.
