Image quality is important, but I can usually use any JPEG image of size 350kb or greater.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Gday fellow 996 owners,
I have started my 996 book and I would like to ask 996, 996TT, 996 GT-2 and 996 GT-3 owners that use Rennlist (even if they just lurk) if any of you would like to contribute some images for my book. Unfortunately I am in the middle of another book and working to a very tight deadline and I cannot engage in answering questions on the forum at the moment due to this committment.
However I will list what I am requesting and answer everyone if they wish to contactme via PM or email (see end of post for my address).
I need images of anything and everything. Complete cars inside and out all models, all types. I would also dearly like to have images of disassembled cars with parts exposed and even standing alone removed.
Many technical images showing 996 series models in various form of disassembly have been posted on this forum, and the 996TT and GT-2/GT-3 forums. I cannot use any images posted on Rennlist, but those who posted them may wish to contribute them to me directly and then they can be used.
The images must meet certain requirements due to tough new copyright laws.
1/. They must have been taken and be owned by the contributor.
2/. They may not contain other copyrighted material (anything Porsche is okay) such as artwork, city sculptures etc.
The best background is the sea or the horizon.
3/. They must NOT contain images of people that can be recognised when the image is published unless the contributor has their written consent (called a model's release). This includes any strangers who may just be hanging around the car.
4/. All contributors must sign a non-exclusive release form before I can use their images.
Image quality is important, but I can usually use any JPEG image of size 350kb or greater. I would prefer a resolution of 2400x1500 in JPEG. If the images are in raw or TIFF form they would need to be 4mb size.
I would prefer to receive the images on CD-rom and I can give my postal address to anyone who wishes to contact me either via PM or at
[email removed]
however I am naturally willing to take them via E-mail at the same address by arrangement. I don't want to bog down John's system too much.
The deadline for image processing is the end of April, but I can stretch to the end of May 2007, but no longer.
I look forward to hearing from those who wish to contribute via PM or E-mail.
Oh by the way there are no free books for any contributions. It's for love and glory, but all contributors will be credited in name in print for each image used and also listed in the acknowledgements section.
Ciao,
Adrian.
PS: This has not been posted yet to the 996TT or 996 GT-2/GT-3 forums yet to avoid the impression of a spam post.
adrian..i'm having some professional photos of my car taken, and if i can borrow an SLR camera, i can take some photos when i convert her back to stock as well (most of the interior will have to come out and go back in...same with front bumper and rear wing area, as well as some pics from underneith and the suspension.
good luck with the book!

This is a great opportunity!! For those who do not know Adrian has written multiple automotive books.
Here's an example....
http://www.amazon.com/Porsche-993-Es...5634036&sr=1-1
Send in your pics and you will have an opportunity to have your car pictured in what is sure to be a great 996 resource!!
Thank you for involving the Rennlist 996 community Adrian!!
Adrian, the 993 book was outstanding and first class, I can hardly wait for the 996 version! Any chance it will also be available in a protected download-able color version? I remember reading the cost of trying to do a color version of the 993 book a while back, and it was outrageous.
It would be an honor for anyone to have their pic(s) in your book. Thanks!
This book will also be in black and white. I have absolutely no control over the printing of the publication. Printing costs are outside of the control of the publisher as well. 700 pages with 2100 colour images is just too expensive and nobody is going to pay $1000 a copy. This would also defeat the whole purpose in me writing these books as well. My aim is to keep the per unit cost to around that of one hours labour at a Porsche dealership. They are not coffee table books they are actually meant to help save Porsche owners (for the models I have written about) money in as many areas as possible. Just doing them in black and white is a huge investment and risk for the Publisher.
I will mention the idea of a paid for colour downloadable version in pdf format.
Ciao,
Adrian.
Ray most people here would not know the history of these books and Rennlist, but it was on the original 911 email list (before that was split up and before these forums existed) that the idea was first born and I was told to stop writing my stuff on the list and put it into a book. I actually ended up doing both for many years.
Ciao,
Adrian.
A little update. If anyone wishes to send images to me via
[email removed]
you cannot send zip files. To send send zip files I will provide another address to the contributor.
Ciao,

Hello Adrian

Greets from Spain
Yes please. This is vital to get from the USA where your engines are different to ours. I can write about it, but pictures tell a thousand words.
Ciao,
Adrian.
Hi again,
I am bumping this back up to add a request for contributions from 996 Targa owners. I have the official pictures and my own stuff, but I would like to have a Targa owner contribute as well showing the roof in operation and switch positions etc.
I have to admit the response has been quite slow and low from the 996 community as compared to the 911SC, 964 and 993 communities when their turn came, but this is not a major problem because I have been photographing 996s for years. I like to add the personal touch of individual ownership from around the world to my books and I will miss that this time around.
Ciao,
Adrian.
Adrian, here are some pictures of my 1999 996 that I rebuilt. If you would like more info. or pictures, please let me know. Good luck on your book. See the following post that I will bump:" New member with a rebuilt 996 ( 1 2 3 4 )"
Adrian,
do 996 racing images that I've taken, fall foul of your restrictions based on 'model' release?
Such as:
If they are of interest, let me know and I can ship you a CD or DVD with the full resolution RAW/TIFF files of these any many more from the US and UK tracks.
Chris.
Chris,
It's not my restriction. New EU regulations have changed everything. I personally think it's all totally petty and stupid, but I don't want to get sued.
I have sent you a PM with my address. US and UK track images taken by yourself would be great thanks.
Ciao,
Adrian.
Adrian,
i took a look at the pics of my car disassembled...they didn' turn out great (tried to take them with a 5.0MP point and shoot as i didn't have an SLR). they didn't turn out very well.
Sorry.
Omar,
You can still send them. My publisher has a photoshop wizard and he has recovered something usable out of lousy shots I have taken over the years.
Ciao,
Adrian.
Adrian,
I just received your book in the mail. I said a little prayer and will start reading it over the weekend.
Thank you very much for your contribution to the community at large. You make the ownership experience better.
Best,
Ben
