I've been checking Ebay and Rennlist classifieds, but as Murphy's law would have it, whenever I'm ready to buy something, I can't find it for sale!

I don't think you can use the 4-spoke airbag with the 3-spoke wheel.

The wife has finally OK'ed me upgrading my 993 stock steering wheel with a 996 wheel. I've been checking Ebay and Rennlist classifieds, but as Murphy's law would have it, whenever I'm ready to buy something, I can't find it for sale! I know Carnewal sells this wheel, but I need to get it for a lot less used

Thanks alot, Alon. I just contacted Randy and he said to call back later today that he MIGHT have one from a 996. I've seen some with the vinyl airbag for sale, but if I'm going to "go for it", I want the leather one instead! Are there any reasons why one would want the vinyl instead of leather, or real negatives concerning the leather airbags? Thanks in advance.

Both vinyl and leather steering wheels will be identical except for the area that I would describe as "the hub" area. In other words, a leather steering wheel is all leather, everywhere and a vinyl one is leather on the rim but vinyl on the fat, middle, hub area. The air bags differ in that the vinyl one looks like one piece with the crest and the leather one has stitches around the relief are where the airbag would pop out of. It is a lot harder to find a leather wheel and airbag combo unless you buy new. Given that few people would ever notice the difference, I would suggest you get what you can as long as it's a great deal. My friend got one from Randy for his 1995 993 Cab and it bolts right on with no mods. By the way, if you are going to buy brand new and you want the very best, consider buying the thicker version of the steering wheel (also sold by Carnewal and other dealers). My car has the all leather wheel and I do like it but it's no big deal at all if your car doesn't have the full leather interior option to begin with. believe me, getting that horrible four spoker will be more than enough

So, it seems like the vinyl airbag wheel, if a really good price, is still a good way to go. I'll consider that. I DID check out the 996 Turbo board and even went back 4 pages worth of viewing, but didn't see anyone selling a 3 spoke steering wheel. If you happen to see the ad again, please let me know!
