Suggestion

I tried to use the non-porsche seats, but they were too wide at the top and did not fit correctly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello, a friend of mine is in the market for a 996, he has a child and was wondering if there is room in the back seat more so than a 993 for a child seat. of course it will not be used soley for this, will there be enough room. to keep it brief what is a good year for these cars. thanks for any tips.

POST 2Original post

Porsche make a child seat for the car - $$$; '02 & up-many changes to the car. These cars are option driven. Make sure your friends understands what options are a "must have" before he buys the car, i.e., litronics, heated seats, PSM, etc. Some can't be added aftermarket. Lastly, don't rush and have a PPI done before he purchases it. I spent 4 months looking for my car.

POST 3Original post

I have 2 kid seats in the back of mine. My 7 year old son and 4 year old daughter love it. - In fact they prefer it to the family Lexus RX300, much to my wife's disgust!

POST 4Original post

You can use the childseats from "Graco" they are narrow based and cost about $75Cdn...as opposed to the $500 Porsche setup

POST 5Original post

I can carry two kids in the back of mine, and I bought the Porsche car seats. I tried to use the non-porsche seats, but they were too wide at the top and did not fit correctly. I found that the Porsche seats, while expensive, did fit better. It works. My 21 month old daughter really likes riding in the back of the Targa (after I can convince her that getting strapped in with that belly bar is worth the hassle).

POST 6Original post

My son loooooooved the Targa...he misses it, must be awesome to watch everything whizz by from back there at that age

POST 7Original post

Just like Adrian, I have two booster seats in the back (7 year old daughter and 4 year old son). They love to ride ("daddy, lets feel some g's!") and we didn't have any complaints even after a 3+ hour fall color tour last month.

POST 8Original post

Britax makes the porsche child seats and they are alot cheaper under the britax name. I have two in the back of mine the starsiter for my 6 year old I forgot the model name of the other one both fit fine.

POST 9Original post

I recently purchased the Britax Starriser Comfy (about $99 US). It fits great on the back of my 996. And my son loves to ride in it. On the Graco side you may want to consider the Graco Turbo Booster (about $50 US), there's a good looking fabric (if there is such a way to call these things) called "Sport" sold only at Target (usually out of stock). None of these will fit (widthwise) on the back of a 993. I tried earlier today with the Britax on my friend's 993. Cheers.

POST 10Original post

I have two kids,6 and 8, they fit perfectly and love Daddy's car. I could never have a car without a backseat,in fact I passed on a sweet gt3 deal last yr for just that reason! Get the 996, throw the kids in the back and enjoy, they will too. (I do it sans carseats.)
