Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, Since I got my 996/C2 I have noticed that the ABS kicks in always too soon under -almost- heavy breaking. By this I mean breaking a little harder but not quite hard. I can feel front tires slipping and then the ABS kicks in. I know that much of this can be attributed to the tires, of course, but I just can not believe that the tires will give up that fast. I personally do not like the Michellin PS Rib that come with the 911 but they were brand new when I bought the car so I could not complain much. I have previously owned Bridgestone and Yokohama (STi 05 and Evo 03 resp) and, specially the Yokohamas, were incredible. As soon as I am through with these I will get PS 2 or Cups, which I have personally tested and are awesome. What's going on here? To all of you using the Ribs, do you see the same behavior?

POST 2Original post

it is common if: 1.tyres are baddly worn 2.tyres are not worn but old (check 4digit number on the tyre ex 3402 that's week 34 of ywer 2002 production date) tyres if stores by the company properly and not under direct sunlight should be used asap but not after 2,5 years of production at any circumstances. 3. front tyres are uneven worn out. this is for sure front wheels alignment so front tyres will be worn out properly 4. bad condition of road tarmac 5. condition of front suspension 6. and most important of all the above, 911 have engine at the back and of course more wight at the back. not having the engine to the front means that there is no weight above the front wheels to put more pressure on the front tyres. this makes the front end lighter on of course as you have noticed on your car, (especially if you had earlier 911) less stable than "proper" cars with engine to the front.you did compare your ex-evo and ex-sti with your current 996. that is "wrong" because they have different philosophy of design procedure.this is why 911 has always been in all hardcore racers hearts, because it need special treatment in order to drive it fast. check all the above professionally and come back to us!!!
