Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am strongly considering buying a 2001 911 with about 50,000 miles being sold for $31,000. I looked at the car this past weekend and am planning to check it out again this weekend. Is there anything in particular I should be checking out and looking for? Are there any reliability issues with the 2001 911's? Does the price seem accurate?
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
Definitely have an independent dealer / shop do a thorough PPI on the car (esp examine the rear main seal). The PPI I had done was not as complete as I thought it would be... but then again the car had been serviced at that dealer for 2 years, so they knew it pretty well (and it had an extended warranty). If you have the PPI done at a dealer ask them about buying an extended warranty - you don't want to be caught out of pocket for something like a tranny or engine failure.
I sure enjoy my 2001 996. The price sounds reasonable, though you might be able to negotiate it down a bit depending on options. I paid $33.5K back in October for mine with 33K miles - but it has few options. As other posters have noted, the condition of the car is paramount.
+25 on the PPI and make sure they read specifically for any over revs. You don't say where you are located, but $31k is high for around here (Virginia), but you don't say if it's a 2c or 4c what wheels, options, etc. I paid $32k for my 2002 C2 in March of this year, and it's pretty loaded, but it needed/needs some cosmetic exterior work (front bumper cover, other palstic parts & wheels had to be R&Red) so I'll have added $2k by the time I'm done for a really nice shape one.
Hey I'm selling mine if you're interested. It's beautiful but I don't drive it anymore since I've got two small children now. I'll buy another one later on when the kids are older.
I'm doing an in-person auction this weekend to get rid of the car so PM me if interested.
