Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for a cheap laptop to run Durmetrics diagnostics software. Cheap. Did I say cheap? Yes. Cheap. I mean...REALLY CHEAP. If you have an old, crappy laptop that runs but is collecting dust, I want it. Must have the following: Windows 2000 or higher NO Vista. working keys and screen HD can be small. Doesn't have to be pretty...just in working condition. That's pretty much it. Just need it for the shop. PM me if you have one. Thanks

Great idea I have a setup that I just use for engine tuning (FVD) and Durametric software. If you can have wirless on your home computer and laptop for transfering of files via email etc makes for viewing or tuning in comfort from home and do not forget the lazyboy that helps.

POST 8Original post

Yes I've got a spare 650 MHZ P3 NEC with W2K & a 15" screen, but a Dell is a better machine..lighter and the OS is free, batteries are easier to get, etc, etc. I have the same machine with 512k and a 850Mhz P3 that I use for the same thing..VAGCOM, ETK, & Autoenginuity software. I keep the other one in case I ever need spare parts...

POST 10Original post

Durametric runs fine on Vista. I use it on a Vista laptop.

Personal preference. Vista blows, IMO C.

POST 12Original post

Plus it would NEVER run on an older laptop. W/O 2ghz & 2GB ram, it's just plain slow

Chad, I'm sure you checked, but just in case - be sure to search your local craigslist. I got my travel laptop for $85 bucks a while ago (Dell C610). -td
