I have a 01 996 C2 tip with 49,000 miles on it. I've owned it since 15,000 miles and the transmission fluid has never been changed. I track the car about 15 days each summer. When is the fluid to be replaced and should I do it sooner since I track my car? I called up the dealer and they wanted 450 bucks. That seems outrageous. Is this something you can DIY. I do all my own brake work, of course this is easy. Thanks.

I used Amsoil Universal ATF that met Porsche spec. I would not do it again. It slipped sometimes at WOT hitting the rev limiter when shifting into 4th. It did not do this before. I had 0 over-revs until using this product. Of course, when you drain old fluid out, along with the fluid you drain out the loose clutch material that wore off of the clutches. This can cause a trans to slip, I think this was my case. But, your car should be fine to change and the recommended change interval is 90k or 100k miles.
