Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I proposing having them painted, I know a guy who can vacuum metalize but I doubt they would stand the test of time.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Some advise please.
My 996 has the blue interior with grey trim, that is the plastic bits around the radio A/C and arm rest are in a dull cheap plastic grey finish. I've seen a number of cars with Arctic Silver enhancments and they look neat, so I'd like to upgrade mine.
I need to figure out how to remove the trim parts, I think I can figure out the arm rest and centre console as I've had the window switches out already, but how do the pieces of trim around the A/C + radio and instrument binical come out, will they break?
I proposing having them painted, I know a guy who can vacuum metalize but I doubt they would stand the test of time.
Does anyone know how I can get some instructions on dismantling the above -
Cheers

Go to renntech.org--they have all your answers. I have the same color combination, and made a lot of aluminum look mods. There are often pieces on Ebay, as well. You can check out my car at

(bavarian's C4S cab).
Yeah, I can help you with that. Email me:

We refinish most interior plastics to factory finishes, alumalook and exterior colors. Durable and long lasting, professional perfection at its finest.
You will find that most of the interior trim panels snap in and out. A little prying and pulling will start to pop off most of the parts. You will find occasional screws hidden under some coverings.
You can find some of the more complicated assemblies in the Porsche workshop manual CD which costs about $25 and frequently is on ebay.
AD996 -- Just go to
http://renntech.org
You don't have to join, but for the small fee you will be able to get all the recent TSBs and other valuable information, and Loren and Toolpants know the answer for most Porsche related questions. BTW, some parts are remarkably easy to install, but there is often a monkey wrench such as the cigarette lighter in the horse shoe shaped front center console.
AD, couple of things. First of all the combination of DIY and reference material coupled with the response from dedicated experts is the place to go. That UK link you posted may not have up to date information.
Secondly, I'll vouch for the Eric's work and skill. Most of the silver mods on my 996 were done by Eric at different times....and they match perfectly to factory.
He does GREAT work!

did you order one? let me know how it is, if it has all the diagrams and what not in addition to the instructions. 30 dollars is surprisingly cheap as if i recall correctly, a company/individual on flat-6.net contacted me and said it would be 300$ for the several cd set 0.o
^ i asked the guy and he said it doesn't contain diagrams and what not..i think it might just be a parts list or something.

Re DonW: Your car is excellent, just what I want, trouble is I'm in Aussie!
But I know of local guy who does the painting for a few $100 but I strip & re fit, hence my questions about dismantling, do you find the centre console gets easily scratched - seat belts etc?
Oh for U$20, I've ordered the CD just to see, I'll advise what it's like.
Cheers
