Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am turning in my leased 2002 Cab next week and I am already having withdrawals. It was a nice ride. I can't complain about that. Yes, there were issues with it (RMS, etc.) so my time with her were not troublefree, but I did enjoy driving her everywhere (40k miles in 3 years). My local dealer was great and made the painful episodes go easier. I would definitely go back to them! But now my car looks old and tired. I am not sure if I am just making myself believe that. As I think how much I will miss the 996, I wonder about a 997 cab or maybe something new altogether in the future. I do not know. I just don't even want to think about it. I guess this is the withdrawal phase.

Are you not planning to replace the car with something right away?

POST 4Original post

Do a 1yr lease on a plain 997, by then the cab will be out, then get one of those. I lease often for bus./tax puposes, but I've always thought it better to buy if possible.

POST 5Original post

I hear that there are deals to be had with in-stock C4s Cabs (996 based) due to the announcement/speculation of the 997 based cabriolet coming.

POST 6Original post

I feel your pain..next time buy and not lease so she can really be yours.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am not going to replace the C2 with anything right away. The dealer was pointing out what he sees as substantial improvements in the 997 over the 996 (from memory: improved adaptable suspension, better handling, 2nd generation water cooled engine) so in my mind I am trying to sort out what to do next. The 997 Cab is not out yet. A 996 TT is a posibility. I had not thought of the 996 C4S Cab because I thought it would be not much different from the one I am returning. I leased the vehicle primarily for tax reasons and looking back I probably would have saved a few dollars, not much, had I bought it. Thanks guys!
