I have a 2000 996 with the upgraded sound system so in my center console I have a CD holder and the extra sound gear. Is there a place other then the dealer to find the simple cubby that I could replace the cd holder with? Thanks in advance.

I don't even think I could find a cassette if I tried! I also have a 6-disk changer if anyone is interested in purchasing. I installed an i-pod instead.

Open all 5 CD trays, grab all of them with both hands and pull straight out. Slide in the "stuff" holder (upper storage tray). Total process takes 8.47 seconds. The part number for the upper storage tray (a.k.a. bin) is 996.552.253.01.01C and will run $30 to $35 at the dealer.

I'm going to wear special kevlar fiber impregnated glove inserts that add 5-6HP (hand power) at the fingers. I estimate I can shave 1 second from the process. The inserts only run about $20. Best performance mod I ever got for my gloves.

I did this a few months ago. Very easy. Difference is the lower has a slight curve at the bottom.
